In this modern age of assembly lines, fashion trends and mass productions, it’s easy to lose one’s identity. What you have usually looks like what everyone else has, how many sitcom episodes have gained laughs in one person picking up an item that belongs to somebody else because it looks like their own?

Sure, it’s really not a big issue, but still, wouldn’t it be nice to have unique wallets for each person, it may take out the sitcom angle, but it will save on some confusion too. Unique wallets don’t have to be synonymous with “wacky” or “weird” wallets, although duct tape and woven human hair wallets sometimes make them so.  They can be wallets made of fine leather to your specifications, or paper lovingly made for you by your five-year old child. These unique wallets are just special and one of a kind, and in the case of duct tape and woven hair, hopefully so.

These wallets can also be unique depending upon its utility, like say the wallet that Perseus used to carry the Gorgon’s head. But since there are no more Medusas to decapitate, stick to what can be useful for you should you want a wallet custom made for you, like what will you put in it, the size you want it to be, the color, and the material. That way, when you take it out, your statement goes far beyond “okay, I’m going to pay now.”

Some Types of Unique Wallets

Going with having a unique wallet made tailored to your needs, if you are a preternatural traveler, have a travel wallet made.  This is a wallet that can contain all of your travel documents, money, credit cards, and identification.

You can have these made from water-proof, and tear-proof materials, so you don’t end up with soggy and torn paper.  Or have it made with special straps so that you don’t end up with NO documents at all.

For the more fashion conscious, a money clip wallet may be more appropriate. This is a simplified wallet that will carry only paper and a few cards, but will not disturb the trendsetter’s fashion lines. You can sneak it in places that a bulky wallet will never fit in to. Have it made in your favorite color, or put on some studs.

Alternatives

Realistically speaking, though, not everyone can have unique wallets made for their own individual taste and needs.  And, with practicality being a concern, mass produced wallets are almost always cheaper. So, if you do want a wallet that is uniquely you, you may have to do some customizing by yourself. 

There will probably be a wallet out there that will come close to what you want in terms of make, material and price range. If you have the artistic flare, try expressing yourself with the use of a few arts and crafts goodies. If you don’t, chances are you can find a friend (that you hopefully can trust) who does.
