Finding a Good Used Smart Phone

Smart Phones are the Wave of he Future
Smartphones are taking over. Their range of features and high-tech capabilities make them similar to personal computers and allow users to sent e-mail, browse online, talk on instant messenger services, and even check out live weather and traffic reports while driving to find the right destination. They are great for both everyday use and business use and have changed the way that business is done by connecting people, seemingly 24/7, with the touch of a button.
However, top of the line technology isn't free. In fact, smartphones are pretty expensive most of the time which puts them out of the price range for a number of consumers. As a result, a number of consumers are beginning to look at the used cell phones market for their smart phones to allow themselves to have a smartphone with all of its amazing capabilities while sticking to a budget.
The number of smartphones available, even on the used market, continues to grow and just about any feature that you desire can be found on one or more of these phones. Nearly all smartphones have the "basic" features like e-mail and internet capabilities, camera, calendar, and a personal organizer. Some phones also have GPS and mapping capabilities and can send and receive video. Every additional feature obviously contributes to a higher price tag on the phone, so it is important to determine what you need from your smartphone up front so you don't waste money on features that you don't need.
There are a number of places that you can purchase used cell phones and most consumers find theirs online. Auction sites like eBay are good places to start if you can find a seller with a good history. There are also quite a few third parties that sell used phones online and often they are a much better bet as they can offer warranties and are in the business of selling phones instead of being some guy that knows little about his phone but just wants to sell it. A little searching and you should be able to find the smartphone you've always wanted.
Before you purchase a used smartphone, make sure you do some research. Be aware that not all smartphones will work on every network. For example, the Apple iPhone is only made to operate on AT&T's network. Although you can get an unlocked version of this phone, many networks simply do not offer the features to fully support this phone. On the other hand, you can generally find a used Blackberry for most networks. Thus, you should check to make sure that the phone you want to buy is either made for your network or has been unlocked and your network is capable of supporting it. This will help you avoid having to switch carriers and pay expensive fees.
Smartphones also generally require a more expensive service agreement to support their features. However, if you're able to find the smartphone you want in a used or refurbished condition, the money you save versus purchasing it new will help to offset the additional monthly fees you'll face. Buying a used cell phone is a great way to go if you want to save some money but still want to get your hands on the best technology.
