Buyer Beware with Used Golf Carts

There are good used golf carts to be had, but "buyer beware!" Let me tell you how to get a real bargain.

The used golf carts market is every bit as dangerous as the used car market. The waters are thick with sharks.

Just like the new car market, where badly abused hire fleet vehicles abound, there are used golf carts that have been badly abused by holidaymakers or corporate hospitality revellers, just waiting for the unwary buyer.

So, how do you tell a good buy from an over-worked donkey?

First off look at whether it has been re-sprayed. A close inspection of the paintwork will usually reveal telltale signs. It is virtually unheard of for a private seller to have a cart resprayed.

The take a close look at the unholstery. Is it in good condition? Are the seats firm?

The windshield can be a giveaway - is it scratched and scarred? Private owners tend not to drive under low-hanging branches. Holidaymakers don't give a damn.

The tires tend to get worn on carts that are abused. Once again hirers speed along the paths more than private owners and this creats tire wear.

If you go to someone's house to buy a golf cart take a close look around. If he's a dealer he'll have some more carts secreted away somewhere round the back. If he's a dealer his carts are probably well past their prime.

Has the cart got a cover, and is it in good order?

A private owner will have a good reason for the sale. He'll be able to show you where the cart has been garaged. He may be able to show you his new model.

There are bargains to be had and plenty of them. Just be careful, that's all.

I got a golf cart quote from http://mygolfcartsforsale.com. They are pretty decent and they also do used golf carts as well as brand new.
