Useless Gadgets That You Want Anyway

There are a ton of useful gadgets out there, but what happens to all of the useless gadgets? We buy them anyway. They appeal to us by how they look, or a sense of novelty, and so we bring them home like lost little technological pets. What's on tap this week in the useless but beautiful or novel gadget category? Let's take a look:

The Glass Clock

This clock is absolutely gorgeous, and oh so breakable. Made out of etchings between panes of glass, the clock is beautiful to look at. Since it does tell time, I suppose it isn't completely useless. That being said, it is a fragile little thing. I wouldn't bring it home if you have rowdy kids or rambunctious pets, or if you live in the earthquake and tornado zones.

70s Lightening Balls Get An Update

Now you can recreate that 1970s bachelor pad / college dorm /disco fever experience right at your desk. Meet the updated version of the Plasma Ball - that little gizmo that looked like lightening trapped in glass way back then. It still looks like that (ooo ahhh wooow) but now it is powered by your USB hub. That's right, one more thing you can add to your desk to irritate your boss.

Have a lot of friends who shouldn't be behind the wheel anymore? Throw a lot of parties? Tired of rebuilding the back wall of grandma's garage because you're too chicken to take her keys away? This gadget is for you! It's your own heavy duty, portable.... curb.

Too Hard To Lift That Cereal Box?

This one if for the truly lazy. Really. It's a cereal dispenser, for those times when you wake up just too darn tired to even pick up a lightweight cardboard box and pour some sugary cereal into your bowl.

Another gadget that is actually useful is a wireless intercom system. These devices are portable and people use them for all sorts of applications like caregiving for elderly and disabled people, monitoring children, stopping the shouting, camping, motorcycling, and lots of other creative uses.

Cool clock at the top. Wish it had less of a tribal look. More of a flame look.
