If you've heard of the Clarisonic skin care brush, it's not too surprising. It's become a hugely popular tool for skin care for the face. If you have acne though, you might be wondering if using the Clarisonic is a good idea for you.
While I can't promise that it will clear up your acne because everyone's skin acts differently, many acne sufferers report that using one of the Clarisonic brushes has made a big difference and cleared up their skin significantly. On the other hand, some other people with acne report that it has made things worse. If you have pustular acne or another serious skin condition, like an infection, Clarisonic don't recommend using their product. Your best bet is to talk to your Dermatologist about it and see what he or she thinks.
So you can see that it is difficult to say how your skin will react and the only real way to find out is to try it out. There is a return policy on it, so you can send it back if you find it doesn't work for you.
So if you would like to try it yourself, I suggest buying the Clarisonic from Amazon, where you will get the best price and then follow these tips for using it.
The Clarisonic Skin Care Brush
1. Start slow and gentle
When you first start using the Clarisonic, you may be tempted to put it on the highest setting and using it more than twice a day. I would recommend taking it easy at first to give your face a chance to get used to it and to see how your skin reacts.
Try using the Clarisonic skin brush on a lower setting and for the first couple of days, only use it once per day. Also, use the delicate brush.
2. Get a second brush head
If you are going to use the Clarisonic in your daily routine and plan to use it twice a day, you should get a second brush head. You do not want to use brushes that are still wet from previous uses. You need to thoroughly clean the brush after use and then let it dry completely. If you don't, you may make your acne worse by introducing bacteria to your skin. So best bet is get a second brush, or only use the Clarisonic once per day so it has time to dry.
3. Use your own cleanser
The cleansers that come with the Clarisonic brush are okay, but nothing special. I would stick to using your own facial cleanser, especially if you have one that you like and it has been working for you.
4. Have patience with break-outs
Many people complain that they broke out worse with the Clarisonic. That's not uncommon and is really to be expected. If you have a bunch of gunk in your pores, have whiteheads that haven't come up yet, etc. then it is going to need to come up. So you may hate your skin for a bit, but try and stick with it for at least a week (or two) or so and see if it starts to improve. Just keep gentle with the brush.
If you find that you skin doesn't get better, you do have a month to return the Clarisonic so there's no risk in giving it at least a week or two to see if you skin starts to clear up once all the muck is brought up to the surface.
