71Just where do I find vegetarian sources of protein?
A lot of people are under the impression that meat is the only real source of protein. I would assume that those same people think that vegetarians are not healthy. This could not be farther from the truth. It is a fact that vegetarians have lower blood pressure and lower cholesterol, just to name a couple. I will share with you some excellent "vegetarian sources of protein"!

A lot of people already consume almost twice the amount of protein that is recommended daily. That is with the exception of some elderly and vegans. The amount is much lower than most people think. Without going into the calculations, I wll just say that the average, for an average person, is around 50 grams for females and 63 grams for males.
So what are the vegetarian sources of protein? They include beans, whole grains, nuts and seeds, dairy products (such as milk, cheese, and yogurt), eggs, fruits, vegetables, and those famous veggie burgers!
Complete protein consists of 22 aminio acids. Almost all meat, fish, chicken, eggs, and dairy products do have 100% of the requied aminio acids to be a complete protein. Most plant based foods do not have the required amount of aminio acids.
People are shocked to hear that all plant based food contains protein, even though they are not complete. As a matter of fact it is the basic component of their cell structure.
Now, while all vegetarian sources of protein do not have the required 22 aminio acids, your body, the amazing machine that it is, has the answer! It pools the aminio acids taken in throughout the day and creates complete protein.
As long as you are eating a variety of the foods listed above in the vegetarian sources of protein, you will most likely get the reccomended amount of protein.
So, to sum it all up, make sure that you eat a variety of foods from the vegetarian sources of protein list and your body will take care of the rest! So look better, feel better, and possibly even live longer. Live the Vegetarian Diet Lifestyle!

I have been a vegetarian for almost four years. I started out feeling really great but as the years went by I started developing health issues one after the other. I recently went to get accupuncture and she told me that I need to start eating fish. She said that I'm not getting enough protein. I thought I was doing this right. What do you think?
Perhaps you should talk with your doctor. Most vegetarians get enough protein, if they follow the advice above. Good luck to you.

Excellent advice - I spent a year being vegetarian to see how it felt - I ate a lot of cheese and eggs :)
