The only diet that works; Exercise and eating right!

I have been watching the television show "The Biggest Loser," and I am honestly shocked by people's attitudes about getting in shape. The majority of people do not realize just what it takes to become healthy. Exercise and nutrition are the main components of losing weight, maintaining a healthy weight and creating an overall better quality of life.

Losing weight and getting in shape is a life style change. Its not something that can be done for a short period of time. In order to create results that last a lifetime you really do need to change your overall attitudes regarding food and fitness. Those fad diets are not going to make you thinner or healthier. Most people lose weight quickly in a short period of time. This experience can be misleading. Once the diet stops, however, the weight comes back with a vengeance.

The best way to get back on track is to start with small steps. Incorporate more fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean protein into your diet. Then once you are comfortable making dietary changes, start building your endurance as far as working out. When I wanted to lose weight, I purchased a tread mill for my home. I started with a couple of miles a day. Even 20-30 minutes of exercise in the beginning is better than nothing. Combined with a healthy diet, exercise really jump starts your metabolism.

Jillian Michael's 30 day shred has three levels of work outs that only take twenty minutes a piece. Its great for a beginner, intermediate or advanced work out! When you think you don't have time to work out, think again! There's always time! Even if it means lifting weights or doing sit-ups or using an exercise bicylce while watching your favorite shows! There's always time to get sweaty and burn some calories!
