The history of the Manchester United kits starts from the year 1892 when the Red Devils were described as the Newton Heath. Originally they used to wear yellow and green. However, they did experiment with red, black and white strips to settle down with red. It was in 1928 when Manchester United permanently switched to wearing red.

Now you are talking , I have supported Manchester United since 1966 when for some reason football got really exciting in England. I was about 9 years old then.
