Violin Cases

All string players know the importance of protecting their instruments; you obviously can't play an instrument that's damaged in any way. Therefore, it is important to have a good case for your instrument. We live in an imperfect world, and you cannot always protect your instrument by carrying it around under your arm. Sooner or later you will drop it or someone will unintentionally kick it. If the case that it is in is or poor quality, your instrument may be ruined.

Fortunately, a good case does not have to be expensive. I currently use a "Sky" case for my violin. No doubt it is an off-brand because I got it for a relatively low price on eBay, but it has been just fine for me. It can carry up to four bows, it has a built-in hygrometer, there is plenty of storage space on the inside, and it has protected my violin very nicely. On some occasions the case has been accidentally dropped or knocked over, but my instrument has never been harmed. The only thing I do not like about it is that the carrying straps had cheap hooks; however, I was able to replace them with some straps that have heavy-duty hooks.

All in all it has been a good case for me. There are other good, quality, name-brand cases available, but they can be costly. I cannot comment on any of them because I have never owned or used one. For the inexpensive price that I was able to get mine at, I am very happy with it, and I hope that I will never have to replace it.
