Vita Coco - Natural Drink Product Review
70
When it comes to nutrition, my philosophy is whatever is good for me should tastes good too! I naturally have a sweet tooth and am always looking for ways to curb it. Previously I wrote of about the health benefits of drinking coconut water, since then I have actually incorporated a glass of pure coconut water into my daily diet. There about three big producers out there which include O.N.E by Pepsi, Zico by Coke, and Vita Coco. I tried all the products (you can buy most of them at Whole Foods, Natural Grocers, and online at Amazon) and found the only difference is each brand offers different flavors. They all have the original natural coconut water which tastes the same no matter which product you buy. However for me personally it always comes down to, "Am i getting my money's worth?" so basically whatever is cheaper.

I found that most times it turns out Vita Coco is a bit cheaper compared to the other brands. I also weighed in the fact that the largest size of Vita Coco (34 oz) give you more for the less cost. Another deciding factor is that I tried other flavors beside the orignal coconut of Vita Coco and other brands. Vita Coco has various other flavors compared to Pepsi's O.N.E. and Zico's three flavors. My personal favorite of the Vita Coco flavors is pineapple plus coconut water. A couple of ice cubes in a glass and you are set.
After drinking a glass of Vita Coco daily I notice that I can skip dessert. The drink tastes great when chilled and it is not loaded with lots of sugar which is obviously bad for you. Plus I stopped drinking carbonated drinks like Pepsi and Coke all together, I simply substituted it with a glass of Vita Coco. Before I talked about the health benefits of drinking coconut water and one of them included lowering blood pressure, well even though I am still young (my blood pressure is 98/64), I recently got my parents to take a glass of coconut water daily. I will exclude my father sinces he is 63 years old and on blood pressure medication. However my mother who is 60 years is normally borderline hypertensive. Within a few months of drinking one class of Vita Coco everyday she has been able to keep her blood pressure low enough to avoid getting on medication. I think that is pretty impressive. Some of the electrolytes help balance the fluid in the body so this eventually helps regulate blood pressure. So whatever brand you do choose, whether it's Vita Coco or not, a small glass of coconut water can go a long way eventually. It definitely cannot hurt.
