If you're like me you probably have wanted to download a video from YouTube to your PC. And you probably think that would be an easy task. Well it is actually if you know where to look and how to do it.

The site called Vixy, or http://www.vixy.net allows you to download any YouTube video and convert it to several formats (avi, mp4, mp3, 3gp).

At first glance you would think this is wonderful, all I have to do is paste a youtube URL into the form and Vixy will spit out the video.

We decided to test the site and see what all the hype was, here's a screenshot of our first test.

Imagine 5 people trying to use the same form to download and convert a YouTube video, now imagine 100, 1,000, 10,000 people at the same time. Do you see the problem? Their server can't keep up with the demand.

That's why we found 2 Alternatives to Vixy. A similar wesite where you can download the flv file from YouTube and a desktop software you can install that converts for FREE.

The free software we found is called TubeTilla, You can download it here: http://www.tubetilla.com .
They have a Free version and Paid version, the free version works for most people, but the Paid version is worth the price.

The 2nd website you can use if called TubeGrip, http://www.tubegrip.com . with this website you can download the video from YouTube as an FLV file to your PC. With the FLV file you can watch using a free flv player..

These are all great alternatives if you really need to get the job done and Vixy isn't playing nice.
