Blizzard actually employs people (called GM s, or Grand Masters) to monitor the whole in-game economy to see if anything suspicious is going on, and they frequently ban accounts. If you re buying gold, though, you shouldn t need to worry about this, as it is just the seller that will get their account banned. And with millions of players, you ll only get noticed if you are really buying a LOT of gold (as in 5,000+).

A more legitimate concern people have about buying gold is that it is hard to find a good seller. There is so much demand for gold that there have been a number of scam merchants appearing, who ll take your money and never deliver the gold. Even worse is people who take your money AND steal your account as well (never give your account details to people you don t trust, by the way).
