Wart and Mole Removal
65What are Skin moles
What
exactly are skin moles? Melanocytic naevus or moles, are collections of abnormal
pigment cells in the skin. These cells are called melanocytes, these are the
cells which are responsible for producing brown pigment thereby giving you a
suntan. If you have them when you are born they are known as melanocytic
naevi. Otherwise most people will develop moles during there first twenty years
of life, though you can still develop them into your 40s. Generally speaking
moles are benign in nature.
It’s
probable that almost every one has a mole and although they can appear just
about anywhere on the body, they very often appear on the face. Naturally many
people both men and women will find this embarrassing, and facial moles can be
a nuisance when it comes to shaving or applying make up. A large number of
people will be so embarrassed by facial moles that it will actually lead to
depression. It's not surprising then that many people look for a safe method or wart or mole removal.
Skin mole appearance
Usually moles are a brownish colour, though sometimes they may actually be skin coloured. Often round in shape moles may also be oval, they can be flat or raised slightly above the surrounding skin level, moles can feel smooth or slightly rough in texture. Some may have hairs growing from them. Moles can sometimes change in their appearance during different periods in your life such as adolescence, pregnancy or menopause; this is due to changes in hormonal balance at these times.
What are warts?
Warts are small raised growths on the skin the most common types are not surprisingly known as the common wart. Others are flat warts and there is the type known as a plantar wart, these grow on the feet and we more usually know them as verruccas. Warts are caused by a virus known as the human pappilloma virus or HPV. In spite of its name this virus can infect the skin of some animals as well as humans. There are at least a hundred types of the virus known and of these over thirty can be sexually transmitted and it’s likely that around fifty percent of sexually active adults will get genital warts at some time in their lives. Although warts can be transmitted from person to person contact with some one who has warts does not mean you will get them yourself
Are warts Contagious?
As with moles warts can appear anywhere on the body and in spite of the fact they are usually skin coloured they can cause acute embarrassment for some sufferers. Warts are contagious and may spread to other parts of the body. They are not normally painful though they can be itchy and irritating at times, this may depend on where they are located on the body. Plantar warts or verruccas may be painful because they are located on the sole of your foot. It’s quite common for warts to disappear of their own accord though it may take years to happen and they can reappear in exactly the same spot. Some moles may also just fall off or disappear and you may not even notice.
Wart and Mole removal methods
Those of us who are bothered by warts or moles will naturally want to remove them. There are many ways to achieve this, some more effective than others. Surgical procedures are commonly used to remove moles and obviously in volve sharp instruments like scalpels. This will normally result in some scarring. More recently developed methods of mole removal will involve “cryosurgery” which is a method of freezing and destroying the cells of the mole using liquid nitrogen. Another modern technique involves the use of lasers to destroy the mole. These two techniques usually result in less scarring, though they can be expensive.
Wart and mole natural removal
There are also a number of different ways to get rid of embarrassing warts which also include “freezing” them of. There are many over the counter remedies for wart removal, usually some sort of cream or gel which has to be applied to the wart over a period of time and which have to be carried out to the letter and will be specific about being careful not to apply the cream or gel to the skin surrounding the wart, none of these methods is guaranteed. People are more inclined to try home remedies for wart removal such as the “duct tape” method which may be an urban legend spread via the Internet. It apparently involves applying duct tape to the wart which not surprisingly causes irritation which leads the bodies defence mechanisms to attack and destroy the wart, this can take months, even if it was effective you wouldn’t use it for facial warts. You might as well re read Huckleberry Finn and try his dead cat in the cemetery at midnight method.
