The braces could be costly, and unnecessary. Try a thin, clear, mouthpiece that covers either your top or bottom teeth when you have the urge to bite.

Hi i'm in the midst of stopping to bite my finger. I'm doing quite well as I stopped for almost one month already.

Here's how I do it and hope the concept would be helpful to anyone of you.

"If I wanna be back together with my ex-girlfriend, I have to stop biting my fingers. If I stop biting my fingers for exactly 24 hours, I can call her once. It does not matter what time. Once I bite my fingers, I have to restart the counting of 24 hours from the moment I last bite my fingers"

The idea is, I really really want to, wish to, love to, addicts to getting back with my girlfriend. She is like the focus of my life. I feel so strong urge to call her. Everytime I think see my fingers, I feel like calling her; the thought of calling her would therefore prevent me from killing my own opportunity to call her.

Here I am. I've stopped biting for 1 months. I actually did hang around with her. She never know me actually doing this for her and she very rarely commented on my fingers. I have much confidence now and I felt good about this.

The idea is: Give yourself the "things"/person/valuables/dreams/targets you fancy the most. Then use the method: "If you want it, you have to stop biting your fingers; if you bite your fingers, then you get punishment by not enjoying the "things". Powerful punishment/reward control.
