Technology You Can Bend, Twist, Wash and Wear
The future is now. Items that would not have even been conceived of decades ago, have arrived full force. Televisions you can bend, technology you can wear, electronics that are safe to wash - what will we think of next? I especially like the washable technology - think of the possibilities if you are accident prone, or if you have kids. Sony Razor Thin Television Screen First up is Sony, with the razor thin screen you can bend, twist and even attach to a shirt or jacket and wear. The thin scren, currently in development, uses Sony's patented organic thin film technology to stay flexible and svelte. Some hurdles yet to be overcome include making the displays larger, while some plans for the device include: "In the future, it could get wrapped around a lamppost or a person's wrist, even worn as clothing," said Sony spokesman Chisato Kitsukawa. "Perhaps it can be put up like wallpaper." Source Keep Jack Sparrow In Your Pocket You can keep your favorite rum-soaked pirate in your pocket or on your key chain with the Pirates of the Carribean portable USB flash drive. Soon to be available, the drives will come pre-loaded with movie promotional tie-ins and extras, as well as 8GB of space. no word yet on how much they will cost. Source PC World Magazine has a list of what they consider the top ten washable technological items this week, which you can see here. I disagree with many items on their list, but I agree with one: the washable optical mouse. Now that is fantastic. Who knows where your mouse has been, after all? It really needs a trip through the sanitizer once in a while, and now you can finally take care of it. Now all they have to do is come up with an isolation pod for the annoying coworkers who wont stay home when sick, and this list will be complete.
