Probably one of the symbols and figurines we are most familiar with that sit on top of large, extravagant wedding cakes are the wedding cake toppers or cake toppers, whatever you want to call them. The simple figurine of the bride and groom representative of the real thing has been on top of many wedding cakes and they will continue to be on top of many wedding cakes because they have become so familiar that a wedding cake without a topper would look almost peculiar.

The use of cake toppers on the wedding cakes we have today have a history which they can be traced back to. The history of these toppers goes as far back as the 19th century and it is widely agreed by most that they first started increasing in popularity around that period of time. First, they would have to think about what sort of topper would best represent them.
