Wedding Cameras

Here in the UK there has been a wedding photography horror story in the news recently. A couple paid a wedding photographer £1,450 (Approx $2,310 at the time of writing) to record their day for them, but when they saw the result of his photography skills they were devastated. Only 22 of the 400 photos he took were approved due to bad lighting, people not looking at the camera, even photos where people's heads had been chopped out of the frame.
The couple have had some monetary compensation from the photographer as a judge ruled that the photos were "woefully inadequate", but they can't get their lost photo opportunities back.
It's unlikely that this will happen often, but it does make the case for having wedding cameras to give to your guests for more than just fun. Maybe if that couple had given out disposable wedding cameras to their guests, they might have some decent photos of their big day.
Disposable Wedding Cameras For Your Guests
Giving guests wedding cameras is fun because you never know just what photos you're going to get (much like the couple with the bad professional photographer!). Sure, you may end up with a load of random images that no one remembers taking, but it's still memories from your big day on the whole.
Giving wedding cameras to guests is fun for them and a surprise for you when the photos get developed! It's definitely something worth investing in for your big day. You can even buy cameras that go with your colour scheme so that they don't look out of place on the reception tables.
Why not have two wedding albums? One for the professional photos and one for the guests photos. You never know, you may have an undiscovered Annie Leibovitz at your wedding and there could well be some gems amongst the photos taken by guests. In essence, you want as many memories from your wedding day as possible, so disposable cameras just add to that.
Cover All Of The Big Day With Disposable Wedding Cameras
I look at those photos and I think where the hell did they get that guy from?! To anyone getting married in the UK, steer well clear of a Gareth Bowers from Fresh Images in Yorkshire, or that's the kind of wedding photography you could be wasting your money on. I don't know if he was having a bad day or what, but the guy is clearly lacking in some basic photographic skills. People shouldn't be selling themselves as wedding photographers if they can't cut it, these are people's treasured memories that are being ruined.
If you're having a professional photographer and the wedding cameras for the guest on top then great, but if you're trying to cut costs and are just opting for the guests photos, be sure to tell them what kind of photos you want. You can have different people covering different things, such as arriving at the wedding venue, taking your vowels, cutting the cake etc. If you are just having disposable wedding cameras you can still cover all bases. I bet that couple with the ruined photos wished that they had just opted to rely on their guests!
