Wedding Unity Candles

Intricacies of a Wedding Function

Weddings have been a part of our lives for as long as we can remember. They date back thousands and thousands of years, and you could say they are a tradition as old as time itself. And as with any tradition, everything that is done has a significant meaning or purpose to it, or at least some symbolic meaning that it is supposed to represent. So everything that you observe during the wedding ceremony has an important meaning to it and nothing is ever done just for show.

This applies to even new and recent additions that have been added on to the wedding ceremony, like the use of unity candles or wedding unity candles. These unity candles or wedding unity candles are a recent addition to the wedding ceremony as they only originated some 30 or so years ago. Even though they are new, they too have symbolic and purposeful meanings and there are a few reasons why some couples would opt to go for the use of these candles as a part of their wedding ceremony.

For one thing, unity candles or wedding unity candles are a symbolic representation of the newfound love and unity that you and your spouse have found in one another, a bond that will last a lifetime, which is also how these candles got their name to begin with. When a couple lights these candles at the altar after they have said their vows, when they light these candles together as one, that is the sign that from then on they are one with each other till death do they part.

Wonderful Wedding Unity Candles

The lighting of the candles together by the couple is a gesture of the love they found in each other, and that is part of what makes the ceremony such a beautiful one to watch for all the attending guests. Another reason that unity candles or wedding unity candles are used during the wedding ceremony so frequently these days more than they ever were before is that they can fit in with any sort of wedding theme you want to have. Doesn't matter if you want a beach wedding, a fall wedding, a church wedding or a fairytale-like wedding, these candles blend in beautifully no matter what the theme.

These candles come in many varieties, styles, colors and shapes, and you will always be able to find one that fits the theme of your wedding perfectly. Unity candles or wedding unity candles are also becoming increasingly popular because they make fantastic keepsakes for after the wedding. When you go through a ceremony as important or as special to you as your wedding, you would definitely want something physical to take away from it aside from the wonderful memories, and that's where these candles come into play. Because the candles are much larger than the average candle, they can last for much longer and you could keep them for years and relight them at every wedding anniversary.

More Reasons To Use Unity Candles

Another reason to use these candles during the wedding ceremony is because there is the option for you to include the members of your family in what is the most important ceremony of your life. Of course it is about the bride and groom, but it is not just the bride and groom that will be bound together, it is also their families who will be tied to each other too. And these candles give the family members a chance to be a part of the unification process.

How? Well because it is not just the large candle of unity that is being lit, but there are also two accompanying taper candles with it which will be lit by the family members. That way, representatives from each family will be able to come up to the altar and light the taper candles. And they can be any member of the family - mothers, fathers, grandparents, children, nephews, nieces, anybody as long as it is one each from the bride and the groom's side.

These are just some of the many reasons why these candles have come to be a part of our wedding tradition, and as we can see, though they may be new, they are in fact meaningful. After all, the wedding is a beautiful, meaningful process, so naturally whatever is added on to the ceremony has to have meaning to it. And they symbolic representative of love and unity between two people brought together in marriage that the candle represents is a good enough reason to use them and make them a part of your own wedding.
