When you're thinking of getting a dog - or if you already own a dog - it's very important that you have the right knowledge about the breed in order to choose the right kind of dog and care for him or her properly. Weimaraner information is no exception to this rule. These dogs, often referred to as the "gray ghost of Weimar" were originally bred in Germany as gun dogs to perform various different kinds of hunting tasks for nobles.
Though they were first used for hunting big game, these days they are primarily pets or small game hunting dogs. Of all the Weimaraner information available, it is usually the versatility of the breed that makes it so appealing as a hunter, pointer, tracker, and all around fantastic pet and companion.
Accurate Weimaraner information will show you that they are very friendly dogs, while remaining alert and obedient, and are absolutely fearless. They are terrific family dogs and are very protective of their "pack". They are playful and rambunctious while remaining assertive and bold.
This being said, before buying a Weimaraner, make sure that you are committed to the Weimaraner information you may have read about their high need for exercise. This pooch will need to be walked several times a day, and will require some play time as well. Keep in mind that unlike most other kinds of hunting dog, you can't simply let your dog out into the yard and think that he or she will amuse him or herself and get rid of the excess energy. Weimaraners are extremely social animals and require a great deal of your time and attention.
One of the most appealing pieces of Weimaraner information is the appearance of their eyes. These eyes are one of the most distinctive features of the breed as a whole. Their eyes may be one of several colors, but they are all quite light and haunting. Colors can include gray, blue-gray, or amber. In many cases, the coat and the eye color can appear to be almost the same color, giving the dog a very unique appearance.
