There are several different types of seals to put on your website.

  • Privacy Seals- Privacy seals show those who enter the site that it exercises the means to keep their private information private. This will help a customer be more likely to buy from the site with a peace of mind that there information will not be shared to other sites for spamming and other purposes.
  • Verification Seals- This seal tells the customer that this is a valid business operating with a valid deliverable address, e-mail address and phone number.
  • Security Seals- This seal will let the customer know that the site is operating on at least a 128-bit SSL certificate and customer privacy. To become Security Verified, the SSL certicate provider, the certificates expiration date, and the checkout/customer submission pages must be secure.
  • Certified Seals- The Certified Seal is a combination of the Verification, Privacy , and Security Seals. It goes one step further though in verifying the address, phone number, and email of one of the managing members of the company (the managing members information is not made public).
  • Checked Seal- The checked Seal is a simpler process that will show the customer that at least the address, e-mail, and phone number of the company was verified.

These seals are offered by several different companies such as Trust-guard, Hackersafe, BBB, Truste, ControlScan and Verisign. Each company varies in the types of seals that are offered and the cost.

It is so hard to know what all these seals mean. Thank you so much for clarifying this a little better for me!
