what do you think about religion? and other forms off worship?

What do I think of religion? I find religion to be a necessity. People need to believe in something and have faith in something. Children build much of their moral beliefs around their spiritual upbringing. Rather it be Christianity, Judaism, Musslim, Hindu, Budist, whatever the case may be, it generates a good balance and relieves chaos.

I personally, am a Christian. I believe in God and his son Jesus. I have my own relationship with God; an understanding so to speak. I'm not one to push my religion on anyone because I feel it an intimate thing and I also feel that people standing in the street condeeming everyone to hell are the types of people that push others away from Christianity. I also believe that if I were to go around and tell everyone one that their beliefs are wrong and mine are right, then I wouldn't do anything but alienate myself from others.

As for my exact beliefs, I'm not sure I've formed those yet. I most DEFINITELY believe in God and believe he has answered many prayers. I wouldn't have made it if it were not for God. When I pray, I feel God's presence and I feel a calmness that overcomes me. Other than that, I couldn't tell you of God's teachings because I don't really believe that a lot of the words found within the Bible are literally the word of God. I believe they're good guidelines, but no where close to being the word of God. Unfortunately my Southern Baptist Grandmother and parents would most likely gasp at that notion.

So let me answer the question I really want to answer. What do I think of the request posted: "What do you think of religion?" I think this request was posted to generate a rise out of people because that question alone has generated many many heated debates. I find it rather annoying because no one's comment is going to change anyone's mind...period, so it's just going to be one LONG stream of pissed off people trying to convince everyone else that they know the "truth."
