what do you think about religion? and other forms off worship?
76religion or delusion?
Before I air my views on religion I must say that I completely respect whatever people choose to believe and I have respect for their beliefs. Having said that, after reading several books that explain a lot about the world of completely natural self-delusion that we live in I no longer believe in god or any form of religion at all. I do think that there are some useful and interesting aspects of buddhism though, which claims that the kingdom of heaven is within each of our own minds.
The fact is that when christians and such-like are questioned about their beliefs they always give circular answers that have no particular meaning and have no physical scientific evidence to back them up. They are also not encouraged by their fellow believers to ever question their own beliefs and it is considered rude for others to do so. What is the reason for this? It seems to be that humans, naturally, need to have something to believe in and will always find someting to believe in. Of course, anyone looking at the plain hard evidential facts about christianity will see that the only thing it has really done for the world is cause war and bloodshed.
I feel that belief in religion is the same as, and stems from, the natural subjectivity and suggestibility of every human being on the planet. It works in exactly the same way that people come to believe in superstition or paranormal activity and even subjects such as psychic healing which ultimately end up causing vulnerable people looking for answers to suffer in the long run and become manipulated by distasteful people that know how to manipulate these belief systems.

i share your ideologies. religion is an overused blunt tool.
Sorry I do not have respect for any religion. It requires us to be gullible, unquestioning and gutless.
It does not have my respect because the belief starts wars, and kills little children.
If my god allowed little children to suffer, I would find another god.
I believe that religion is the mere idea of finding hope and something to rely on. Every religion has a God or multiple but what do they do? They give people something to believe in. That there is something greater than the self- induced poverty of the world. The tablets that were written on for Christianity may have been someones theory of a perfect world. If you consider that everything in all the bibles of the world show what good morals are. In doing so it says that if you abide by those rules good fortune will come your way. It relies soley on the believers perspective and that they make their choices. In other words god is giving you a choice. God gave Adam and Eve a choice to eat from the tree of knowledge or to live happy in paradise. She was curious because of temptation and in doing so made that decision that resulted in poor fate!

I never posted anything on religious questions, so I'll try to explain the best i can. but my religion is a forgotten religion that to my understanding answers many question involving science and religion. i believe in karma; a form of giving and recieving..i guess. because of this i believe in past lives. If in ones past life one did terrible acts then it will affect ones next life, and because of this many people face karma. This is the reason why some children suffer the way they do. People feel simpathy because all they see the cute baby face but in reality karma does happen to fun or just to happen. Also, i believe that when a person dies (doesnt matter how) they release what energy they had holding within (positive, neg..) to the earth. In the world today, there are many ignorant people, selfish and close minded, when this energy is released to the earth, the energy creates polution, weather changes, ect... why is it that scientist can't explain explain these things? Global warming is a theory, not a proven fact.
In my religion science and religion are one. The sun is our God. He/ She gives life to the earth; makes plants grow, keeps one warm. ect. This is why the planets revolve around the almighty sun. My religion is complicated but it answers many questions between science and religion. Ex. Dreams have meanings (fears, future, disires, reality of onesself) How the mind can confuse the soul, how jesus was human and how his act could be done by regular people (me, you, your friend...)
I believe that there is always gonna be a point where people don't believe, but i believe it is only because no one found time to explain things fully to that person.

sparkster - I am Christian. My name is Mandy. First off - thnx for your respect although you and I don't share similiar beliefs - I as well respect you as a human being. You sound very intelligent. I do believe that everyone is searching for something. U yourself said "that there are some useful and interesting aspects of buddhism though, which claims that the kingdom of heaven is within each of our own minds." Even that is looking for something - even if it is something within you that you are looking for. Of course everyone likes to be loved and needed. There is a burning inside of us for a greater purpose. I choose God on blind faith, not because I am uneducated or because of ignorance. I just simply don't need scientific proof personally. Ultimately everyone must make that decision for themselves but I do detest being lumped in with all Christians. We are not all the same. I believe in God b.c. He is the most merciful and loving being I know to be true. If that makes me weak or foolish in the eyes of others - so be it. I don't live my life for others - I have to answer to myself and my daughter - just as you have to do in your life. It was however really nice to see someone that doesn't believe in God to show respect to someone that does. Thnx. I would be happy to answer any questions that you have for me. Feel free to email me.
