Adult Acne

Adult acne is becoming more and more common today, so common in fact that 25% of adult men are affected by it and 50% of adult women. These are astounding statistics but this does not necessarily mean they are facing the uncontrollable breakouts of adolescence, for many adults it means that occasional pimple or zit. Acne can be a difficult situation to deal with at any age and that is why you need to understand the best treatment options for your age and acne type as well as the natural ways to control your acne on a day-to-day basis. Just as with acne in adolescence, it is believed that acne is based and rooted from hormonal imbalances and this can be caused by a number of different factors.

Many people believe that the foods they eat cause acne breakouts and others are convinced it is their stressful lifestyle. Both of these can be right, although there is not yet any scientific proof for either condition. When it comes to the treatment for your acne many dermatologists and skin professionals will tell you that there is not much different in how you treat the acne of a teenager compared to a 40 year old acne sufferer. This leads you back down the path of trial and error as you experienced in your younger years to find the best product for you.

Many adults today feel that their acne is completely uncommon and will therefore choose to see a dermatologist for help. This is perhaps the best thing you can do for your skin because your dermatologist can take a deeper and more professional look at your breakouts and help you find the best treatment methods which is going to save you a lot of money in the long run.

With the statistics listed above you can now see that adult acne is just as common as acne in teenagers. Although you may not be experiencing the same harsh breakouts you once did, many people cannot make it through the week a month without experiencing a new pimple or zit. When this happens apply your preferred treatment plan to your inflamed area and let it do its job. There is nothing wrong with adult acne unless you begin to find that you are experiencing harsh breakouts that cannot be controlled, at this stage you need to see a dermatologist to get some professional help.
