What is the iPhone 3Gs?
If you are not familiar with the iPhone, you may be living under a rock. The iPhone is one of the most sought after and popular cell phones in history. In March of 2009, Apple announced the much anticipated release of OS 3.0 for the current iPhone models on the market. It was released on June 17, 2009 for both the iPhone and iTouch after the release of the iPhone 3Gs model of the phone. The iPhone 3G model is eligible for the update to the OS 3.0 update but most AT&T users are not eligible for a cell phone upgrade to get the new iPhone despite protests from consumer advocacy groups.
What's so new about the iPhone 3Gs?
The biggest updates to the iPhone in this release include an overall faster response time via AT&T's wireless network; the inclusion of video recording in conjunction to the phone's digital camera capabilities; full voice control over essential functions; and a fully interactive cut and paste feature. The development of a fully functional camcorder came as a relief to many iPhone owners who complained about the lack of video recording during its initial release in 2007.
Should you invest in the iPhone 3Gs?
If you are looking for the latest and greatest in cell phone technology, the iPhone now comes jam packed with all the features a consumer would look for in a cell phone. However, many consumers ran into problems thanks to when they signed up for AT&T service and/or upgraded to the iPhone 3G. They are not eligible for the upgrade to the 3Gs model, and this has caused quite the uproar amongst AT&T customers. Apple has a habit of releasing brand new models with little warning to the general public with other products so this comes as no surprise to many Apple fans. The iPhone 3Gs is a worthy cell phone to own, learn to use and give a shot even if you have to spend the extra money to make the upgrade.

I really hate to admit this, and it's the fault of one of my employees, Joe Wright, a true iPhone lover. Two weeks ago, I went back to the iPhone . Yes, I got a brand spankin' new iPhone 3Gs with 16 GB of storage. I thought about getting the 32GB but figured it would just cause me to buy more music and install more applications. For those who have read this column for a while, I was one of the ...

- Otterbox: a great gift for iPhone fansSun-Sentinel3 days ago
I was totally prepared to hate the Otterbox Defender case because it does make the sleek iPhone 3G (3GS) less sleek, almost Blackberry-bulky. But the unmatched armor-like protection it offers the iPhone (which can cost $300 or more) makes it worth checking out.
