what is the importance of knowing how to play piano
62Playing the Piano
As a child, I begged my mother to let me take piano lessons. By ten years old, I was playing master-pieces written by composers such as Beethoven and Bach. When I hit 12 or 13 I just didn't want to take lessons anymore, but my mother made me continue. I am so glad she did.
One of the greatest benefits I get from playing the piano is being able to express my feelings through music. Not only have great songs been composed this way- it is also a great way to relieve stress. Being able to put your own unique feelings into a song gives you an indescribably feeling. Putting the time and effort into doing this can also take your mind off of anything negative you may have been feeling.
For a child learning to play the piano can benefit in another way too. People are always pushing children to get involved in extra-curricular activities. Children who do so are more likely to be successful in school and be less likely to get involved in negative activities. Playing an instrument or joining the school orchestra is a very productive extra-curricular activity.
Another reason learning to play the piano is important is the possibility of making a career out of it. Careers range from playing in a church to a jazz lounge to a symphony. With enough practice and dedication an avid learner could aspire to any of these careers.

Enjoyable article. It sounds that you had the same experience as I did. I began learning when I was 8 years old. Around 10 I wanted to quit, but my dad wouldn't hear of it. But within a year or so, I was really back into it and thoroughly enjoying it. I became a pro. musician for about 15 years, but I later became a therapist. And you are so right about the stress-busting qualities of playing a musical instrument. I am always advising my clients to do so.. :-)
