does tithing please God?
To speak of offering, Some say, we give money to the church whenever we attend the church service; some say, we give poor people our old clothing, used furniture or house appliance and the like; some say, we give our tithes to the church; others say we give more than our tithes to the church; others also say, we give our whole lives to God as servants... So,what offering pleases God?
In the Old Testament people lived under curses. according to Moses' law, Jews were commanded to offer God first fruits of their products and firstborn animals. Paying tithes was a solemnly mandatory ordinance of God. book of Malachi 3:7-9 says," Ever since the time of your forefathers you have turned away from my decrees and have not kept them. You are under a curse—the whole nation of you—because you are robbing me in tithes and offerings." So a curse came to those who didn't pay their tithes.
New Testament is salvation time; Jesus already bore all our curses. Certainly, we are NOT under any curse! Offer or not, it is your free choice. but we still hear the church preaching, "if you don't pay your tithe, you are under financial curse." "have financial problem? Pay your tithe !" I am NOT against tithing which is God's decree, for I and my husband pay our tithes too. But the problem is if you pay your tithe, can you really get financial blessing? In fact, some people, who do pay their tithes, still haven't solved their financial problem; they make no difference from others who don't pay their tithes. Then, you mean we shouldn't pay our tithes? Definitely NOT! I mean this is NOT the offering God really wants.
Then, what offering pleases God?
Let us turn to the New Testament. Matthew 22:37-38 says, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment." in book of Matthew16:24, Mark 8:34 and Luke9:23 three times Jesus emphasized, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me." John15:4-5 says, "I am the true vine; you are the branches. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. Apart from me you can do nothing." Romans 12:1 says, "Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship."
From these scriptures, we know we should love God with our all hearts, with all our souls and with all our minds---to deny ourselves----to remain in Jesus---to offer our bodies as living sacrifices, which are all emphasizing the same point - to offer God everything of us, that is the real offering God wants ! This is not only suggesting pastors or ministers to do so as well as every Christian.
What does it mean, "to offer God everything of us"? It means you are sanctified if you deny yourself and offer your body as a living sacrifice to God. So everything that belongs to you belongs to God, such as your spirit, your soul, your body, your mind, the desire of your heart, your marriage, your children (when they are still under your custody), the work of your hands, of course, your finance... from this point, don't you think, paying tithes is minimum of the offering? If you want to become God's money vessel, then 90-99% of all your income goes to God's storehouse, isn't it reasonable? Paul said in book of Corinthians 8 :14-15, "your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. Then there will be equality, as it is written: 'He who gathered much did not have too much, and he who gathered little did not have too little.' " Behold, I am not saying to give God $990 while you only earn $1000. I mean when you become a money vessel of God.
God won't make you a money vessel unless you are trustworthy. Luke 16:10 says, "Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much."
If you haven't given the minimum offering which is tithe, how can you offer your body as a living sacrifice to God? How dare you complain God about not blessing you abundantly? Luke 6:38 says, "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." So, give little, receive little; give much, receive much. Reap what you sow; this is a law which God put in this earth.
Some people say, I am not ready yet; then, you don't trust in God yet. My whole family, including myself, my husband, my children even all my descendants' unformed substances, have been all offered as living sacrifices to God. We shall live for God and die for Him. That is the very reason why we are existing on the earth. That is also the offering Bible suggests, and this is the offering God exactly wants.

GOD bless you!! I totally agree with every thing you say we can not expect GOD to do every thing for us and we are not bringing anything to the table. GOD loves us unconditionally so it is only right for us to obey him. love him, praise him and give our whole selves to him!!
