Leadership, business leadership, should not be taken lightly.  In my coaching for leadership work we often have to deal with business practices that border on the unethical side.  I’ve named these B.O.B.s.  (Business Opportunity Bull S***)  Have you seen these Bobs?

“Anyone can do this…”

“This is the next Microsoft…”

“This product sells itself…”

“Our endorsement by Mr. Bigshot / Mrs. Celebrity ensures…”

I know it is already getting pretty deep, but here is a few more BOBs.

“You only need 3 others who…”

“There is no selling…”

“You do the work once and…”

When you do as much coaching for leadership as I do, you have got to watch out for BOBS.  They hang around the meetings like an ugly cousin.  You don’t really know what to do with them.  They seem to be accepted and embraced by the leadership, but you can’t figure out why.

Just like in the movie I love - “What about Bob?” BOBS are really hard to shake off.  They will keep hounding you - especially in your marketing.  You will be tempted to invite them back in, even after you have decided to get rid of them and become a true professional.

Once at a meeting I attended the presenter actually said a dog carrying the promotional video in his mouth could build the business.  Of course if all these BOBS were based in reality, then why is one of the success laws of Napoleon Hill that I agree strongly with needed - a burning desire.  Who needs a burning desire, or persistence - or any other success law for that matter is all the BOBS are working for us?

What about BOBS?

Kick them out of your business.  Clear your conscience.  Get coaching for leadership for your professional development - and to gain the wisdom and skills to help those who are trusting you to lead them.

There are so many BOBs out there!  Get to my blog and we’ll collect a list together of all the BOBs we know.  Should be fun.
