What is Ning?

Ning is a platform for creating your own social network. With Ning, your social network can be for anything and anyone. You start by naming your social network and choosing a combination of features (photos, videos, forums, events, etc.) from an ever-growing list of options. You can then customize your social network's appearance and launch it! People who join your social network will automatically have a customizable profile page and will be able to message and friend each other.

Get started on Ning

When you create an account with Ning, you'll immediately be able to discover and explore the nearly one million social networks on the Ning Platform. It's an easy way to get started and dive into the social networks you care about. If you haven't joined any social networks yet, this is what you'll see when you sign in to Ning.com

Why do I have a Ning ID and Ning profile?

When you register on any social network powered by Ning, you create a Ning ID. The Ning ID authentication system lets you choose an email address and password once and use them to join or sign in to any social network that uses the Ning ID.

When you create a Ning ID, you can also add a set of basic details and your photo to your Ning ID account. These details are then pre-added whenever you join a new social network that uses the Ning ID for authentication. Your Ning ID also enables you to keep track of your friends across all the social networks that use it. You can sign in with your Ning ID email address and password.

Control your settings on Ning and your social networks

By signing in to Ning.com and clicking "Settings", you can manage the details of your Ning profile, your email notifications, your privacy settings, and your individual social networks.

Control your email settings and messages

Your social network on Ning comes with many types of notifications to allow you to receive emails about new activity on the social network. You'll receive email notifications when you have new private messages, new friend requests, or when the Network Creator or group creator sends a broadcast message. You can follow any blog post or forum discussion, and by default you'll follow those you participate in. You can choose whether you want to receive any, all, or none of these notifications from you "Email settings" page. You also have full control over who can send you a private message, and can block any member from doing so at any time. Read on for more information on controlling your email settings and messages.

Turn off all notifications

Finally, if you don't want to receive any email notifications from your social network, you can check the box next to "None: I don't want to receive emails" at the bottom of the page. Keep in mind this means you will not know when you've been sent private messages on the social network until you log in to the social network, and you won't receive broadcast messages from the Network Creator and Admins.

Check notifications across all social networks

You can keep track of your notifications across all of the social networks of which you are a member, in one, central place. To do so, sign in to Ning.com and click "Notifications" on the top-right corner of the page.

Discover new social networks to join

When you visit Ning.com, you’ll see a few recommended social networks that we think you should check out. Recommended social networks are determined by their velocity, or how quickly they are growing. Over time, these social networks will be recommended to you based on your other interests.

When you find a social network that appeals to you, you can join without having to sign in again. There are also plenty of other great ways to find the perfect social network for you:

Recommend a social network to your friends: To do that, just navigate to "Social Networks" at the top of your Ning homepage. From here, you can click "Recommend" on any of your social networks and let your friends know you think they'd be interested.

Invite people to your event

To spread the word about your event, invite people to RSVP! You can invite people by typing in email addresses, selecting from your list of friends across Ning, importing your web address book, or importing from an address book application. If you're the Network Creator, you can also invite all members of your social network to the event.

To invite people to an event, go to the group's page and click the "Invite More People" link. People will need to join the social network in order to join the group.

How do I opt out of social network invitations and messages?

At the bottom of your email message, you will see "To control which emails you receive on, click here".

Click on the link and you will be taken to the Opt-Out page. You can choose what emails you like to opt-out of if you are a member of the social network, block all emails from the sender, or stop receiving all emails from the social network. You do not need to sign into the social network if you are blocking all emails from the sender or stop receiving emails from the social network. The link to change the email settings will expire after 7 days.

What is Ning? How to use Ning? Ning friend invites.

How Ning works. On the Ning networks they all linked to one another. If accept friend on one network they will show up on all of your networks if they are a member of that network. When you send out an invite from one ning network it will go out to ALL friends list if you chose that option. With several hundred friends I just choose all. If people don't want to get invites they can remove you as a friend or block messages from you. Also if they go to ning.com and log in and go to settings you can control all your emails. Plus all invites have a link to control your emails.

Now for my gripe. If you get an invite and don't want please go to my page and remove me as a friend. I don't want to have to remember who wants invites and who does not. Or you can tell me and I will remove you as a friend.

So PLEASE PLEASE if you don't want invites from other networks set up your settitngs not to recieve them or block messages from me or remove me as a friened. I don't want to remember who wants invites ad who does not. If I did try to remember I will probalby forget to uncheck them and then have someone mad at me.

PS When you send out invites from a different ning networks it does go to your email. Not your inbox at ning. Ning sends it to your email not me. I do not have your email address. Just because Ning sends it to your email does not make it spam
