Finding the best time to exercise

So many factors affect when the best time to exercise is. The main points we’ll| examine here will depend on your type of job, how long your commute is, and what type of a person you are. But remember there is no bad time to exercise - find what works for you and stick with it.

Mornings are best for those who tend to jump out of bed at the first tinkle of the alarm clock, ready to take on the world. Often referred to annoyingly as a "morning person" (usually by non- morning people), this type of person has the energy and the mental capacity to head to the gym and deal with the weightlifting equipment that, |let’s face it, can be a bit confusing at times. They are also able to jump right into an aerobics dance and comprehend the routines being performed at 160 beats per minute. Commute time and type of work also play into morning workouts. If you must travel for an hour before you get to the office and you must be there by 7 am, that means you leave the house by 6 am. If you want to be to the gym at 6 am to work out before you get to the office, that means leaving the house at 5 am. Many people do it, but if even contemplating getting up before 5 am sends shivers up and down your spine, then the morning workout are not for you. Still not sure if you are a morning person or not? Here's a little test. Do you need at least one cup of coffee before you speak to another member of your household? If you answered yes, you are not a morning person. As working out does not necessarily mean going to a health club, there is a good way you can jump start your metabolism and start the day with a bounce to your step- take a walk. Ten minutes, 20 minutes, half an hour... how much time can you spare? This is also a great way to get in some quality time with your family before heading off for a long day at the office, Have your kids follow you on their bikes or roller skates. Push the little ones in a stroller Link your arm through your partner's arm and enjoy the sense of closeness. Walking costs nothing, and is a great way to start the day.

Lunch hour workouts always sound like a great idea. Skip lunch, head to the club, work out for 45 minutes, shower and be back in the office before pm. This approach can work, especially if your gym is very close to your office, you never have lunch meetings, and you can go without food for the duration of the day. But for most people, the lunch hour workout is not very practical. Lunch hour workouts tend to fixed schedule (such as freelancers and those who are self-employed), and can make time for lunch after their workout. Making up a missed morning workout, or knowing you'll miss an evening workout, are two viable reasons for trying the lunch hour workout. But make sure you still take time to eat, as our bodies need nourishment- especially after working out! The after work workout is usually the most popular choice. The biggest drawback here is having to cancel your workout due to other commitments—a late meeting, having dinner with the boss, finishing a project that was due yesterday. Missing out on a workout can have an adverse affect on your well being by causing an extra amount of stress that you just don't need, The after work workout is great for those who always leave the office at the same time. In other words, when the whistle blows, everyone (even the boss) packs up and goes home. You can relieve a lot of the stress that has built up over the course of the day before heading home, meaning you will be much more receptive to your spouse and offspring. After work workouts also help give many people a "second wind" to propel them through whatever commitments they may be facing for the remainder of the evening,

Late night workouts tend to appeal to night owls, and this type of person is a different breed indeed. This type of workout is good for those who may not finish working until late in the evening and don't have to return to work until early afternoon the next day. Many insomniacs also find this a good time to work out. The added bonus of a late night workout is the health club should not be too crowded at midnight.
