Bean bag chairs are a fantastic addition to any home. There are comfortable and easy to move to any position in your room, meaning that you’ll always have the best spot (just make sure you only buy one bean bag!) Regardless of the style and size of your home, you will be able to find  a bean bag chair to match it. Its casual informalness will fit in to most homes interiors with ease. A sharp edged bachelor’s pad can be softened with a bean bag chair and a country cottage can be made more contemporary with the addition of a bean filled seat.

Bean bags are ideal for adults and children alike. You can get massive bean bags that are the same size as a three seat sofa and you can get much smaller and compact bean bag chairs for kids. Why you’d get a child’s bean bag chair and exclude yourself from the comfort of one I’m not sure, perhaps I’m too selfish! As well as coming in different sizes in terms of dimension and volume bean bags chairs also come in different formats:

  • Traditional Bean Bag Shape
Everyone know the traditional bean bag shape which in essence is a material sphere filled with beans.
  • Large Format Bean Bags
There are the larger bags that I mentioned earlier, these tend to be oval in shape so that it is longer than a normal bean bag which allows more people to sit on it at the same time.
  • Pear Shaped Bean Bags
A pear shaped bean bag allows you to sit on it and have your back and neck supported, these are really great for relaxing on.
  • Cushion Bean Bags
Well the name gives it away, these are cushion shaped bean bags that a filled with beans.
  • Bean bag cubes
These are more formal type of bean bag, they are packed so full of beans that there is not a lot of movement in them. This sort of bag is ideal for sticking your feet up on at the end of a long hard day.
  • Chair shaped bean bag
This is literally the same shape as a chair, it has base where you sit and it has a backrest.

Not only do bean bags come as different formats each one of these also comes in a whole host of different materials. You can get leather, faux leather, cord, cloth, linen, hard wearing nylon and combinations of the mentioned. The sort of material you choose will largely be dependent on where you think your bean bag will spend most of it’s time. If you wanted a bean bag for outside for example you would be well advised to get a bag made out of hard wearing nylon. Not only will the nylon stand up abrasion it will also be waterproof so the contents of the bag will not get wet.

There are some really cool designer bean bags out there that are made out of real leather and have exceptional detailing and some natty features built in to them such as pockets for remote controls. These really are the bean bags for people that don’t like bean bags! The hold there own in the most contemporary of interiors as a piece of high quality furniture in their own right.

Bean bags come filled with either foam chips or the more traditional polystyrene balls, the sort you choose will be based on personal preference, foam chips are quieter and don’t rustle so much when your trying to watch a film, but the polystyrene type mould to your shape better. Quieter or comfier that your option!

There are many online retailers that sell adults and kid’s bean bag chairs and you are sure to be able to find one that will match either your décor or you child’s imagination of what their bean bag should be. If you’re struggling to find one that matches your exact requirements you could always have a go at making your own!
