why do people go for ALTERNATE MEDICINE-?
68unethical practice is rampant in modern medicine
Modern medicine was invented to help people find cures to their ailments and to help them lead better, healthier lives. Unfortunately in today's world, medical practitioners are no longer interested in healing people but are more interested in ways and means of making sick people shell out more and more money in search for a cure. The noble profession of doctors has been turned into a commercial business. To add to the woes of the ordinary citizen, health insurance companies have thrown in their hats. Falling ill today is a sure fire way of increasing your financial burden. If you don't die of your ailment, you will probably die paying those bills!
Also doctors have stopped treating people of their ailments but are more focused on curing symptoms. Strong medication have their side-effects and people are being treated more and more for the health problems caused by the medication rather than for the root cause. Any one who has been treated for serious ailments or who has experienced their close family members go through this torture-treatment will have at least one tale of how he/she was nearly sent to the cleaners thanks to inept treatment or faulty diagnosis by reputed medical practitioners.
Given such a scenario, people have no choice but to go for alternative medicine. This has always been the preferred mode of treatment for the poor but increasingly more and more middle class people are putting their faith in this treatment...Herbal or ayurvedic medicines are known to have fewer side-effects, that is if they are practised by competent and ethical professionals. Fact is that chances of unethical practitioners causing even more health-related problems are equally high for both sets of practitioners...
One has only to watch Michael Moore's award-winning documentary Sicko, on the state of America's health industry to get the whole gory picture of the way in which modern medicine practitioners are conducting their business...And the same thing is being reflected in other parts of the world. It's indeed a sad state of affairs. And the situation is only getting worse...
