What a great question, see pic below, there is often the view that Africa needs saving from its own ignorance and chaos, something that equally could be said of the West. :-)

It's a matter of perception really, the West is embroiled in a big war right now and several in the last century along with all the inequalities of wealth and power that still exist. ? Why is that different for the West than for Africa ? As you say, the media creates alot of these misconceptions.

It's the media western media that keeps showing negative pictures of africa and africans. But then again this continent is full of war and farmine most of these we bring upon ourselves sad but true.
