1. EA Sports Active

This recent release has been much anticipated by gamers. Run, row and skate your way to fitness, with EA Sports Active. Of course there are many other activities as well, over twenty five in total that will get you sweating. This game can be used without the balance board, but is much more fun with it. Try either a goal focused work out where you seek ton improve a part of your body or burn a certain amount of calories, or a thirty day program.

2. Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2009

Many of us have watched The Biggest Loser and wished for a trainer like Jillian to arrive and push us to reach our fitness goals. For many of us, this is as close as we may get. Set you fitness goals and then get ready for the grueling fitness regimes. Again, the Wii Fit board isn’t necessary, but it does make the game a bit better. Sports active is probably the better game in terms of difficulty, but if you are a fan you may enjoy Jillian’s version.

3. Shaun White Snowboarding Roadtrip

One of the best ski based games available for Wii, you really can’t go past this one. It is one of the most popular releases on Wii, perhaps because of its affordability. Using the balance board, try out your snow boarding skills on mountain ranges around the world, on rails or off the beaten track where you carve your own path.

4. Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party

One of the zaniest games for Wii around, in this game you need to help Rayman escape the Rabbids again. While not exclusively based around fitness, this game certainly gets you off the coach and using the balance board. This one is especially popular with kids.

5. We Ski

Try your hand at Wii’s answer to skiing in We Ski. Using the nunchuck and remote as ski poles and the balance board as skis, make you way through courses ranging in difficulty form easy to hard. Use your own Wiis over the twenty four courses in both day time and nighttime. you can also attend ski school or compete in races.

6. Winter Sports 2 The Ultimate Challenge

Loosely based around the Winter Olympics, but not having any official affiliation, Winter Sports and its sequel are great additions to your Wii inventory. Compete in sixteen events including skiing, jumping, bobsledding, speed skating and figure skating. Visually the game is quite attractive, although the commentators can be annoying. A little difficult to learn, this game is more appropriate for older players.

7. Skate City Heroes

Popular with pre teens and younger teenagers, this game will see you negotiation city skylines and ultra modern factories alike as you grind and gnash your way through this futuristic skating world. Other than skating, you also battle the odd opponent you come against as you make your way through different levels. Up to four players can use multiplayer mode.

8. All Star Cheer Squad

This rhythm game was designed with girls in mind. Join the cheer squad and test out your rhythm and balance as you learn new cheers. The aim of the game is to eventually become captain of the squad within a year.

9. Gold’s Gym Cardio Workout

Another fitness game for the list. The games are all the rage at the moment, this being one of the more promising titles. Gold’s Gym offers a range of cardio exercises such as running and boxing. This game records your progress a little better than some of its competitors, letting you see what you have achieved more easily. You do not set your difficulty level in the game, it is set for you and gradually increases as your fitness improves. The graphics, while cartoon like, are actually better than some other games, which while being more realistic, prevent you from seeing what the instructor is actually doing.

10.Daisy Fuentes Pilates

Are you looking to start Pilates but can’t make it to a class? This games allows you to learn the basics of Pilates in the privacy of your own home and in your own time. Better than a fitness tape, this game also provides motivational tips on fitness and nutrition.

You are absolutely right, there are no excuses. One of the great things is that you can also practice the exercise with family, children, friends - and everybody gets hooked. So, this little electronic game actually allows you to share, communicate and build up on the good things in life (keep and foster relationships).

With the epidemic of childhood obesity I'd love to see parents everywhere get their kids involved in these kind of active games. And as Philuc said, getting the whole family involved is so important.

And since this is something parents can (and should) use to it makes this a more reasonable purchase for a family.
