Tell Me Why-Declan Galbraith
Time Machine
By Christopher Bernard Lidstone
-
I’m glad to be on my own
In this tiny room alone
Where no one will bother me
Here in Hell’s sanctuary
-
Everyday and night alone
No TV, no telephone
No friendly faces here to see
Just my pen and memories
-
Where will the pen take me tonight
Somewhere far or just in sight
It travels distance and time too
It’s the only way to get to you
-
We had so few times sad
And you know I’m never mad
So I’ll find a happy place
And fly this pen through time and space
-
Now to make my travel plans
Back in time to Newfoundland
There are so many things to do
So much time there spent with you
-
I remember this one time
It really stands out in my mind
The day you stood in front of me
And said, “I’m having your baby”
-
I wanted everyone to know
And notes my angel’s special glow
I told everyone I could
Everyone in Botwood
-
I was so proud of you
And you were proud of yourself too
So that’s where I’ll go tonight
I’ll get in bed and turn the light
-
And with luck that’s where I’ll stay
I have no wish to see the day

Someday Forever
By Christopher Bernard Lidstone
Written in memory of Leena Cumming
-
I don’t think I believe
There was a plan for her to leave
For if I did I would know
Exactly where the blame would go
-
Our destinies are our own
In this sea of life we’re thrown
Where dangers face us everyday
In obvious and hidden ways
-
But I believe the toil and strife
Is only in this human life
The energy we call our soul
Will still be young when we get old
-
And all the energy that’s mine
Will someday seek the same kind
And on that plane I know I’ll see
That precious life taken from me
-

All I Have
By Christopher Bernard Lidstone
Sometimes I wake and wonder why
Then realize I sleep and cry
My eyes are swollen, my pillow wet
Awake or sleeping I can’t forget
-
Does she ever think of me
Or wonder if she’ll ever see
The man she left without a word
The one that lived his life for her
-
I wish I could forget her now
But she means so much I don’t know how
How do you forget your one true love
When that’s all your life consisted of
-
Everyday far or near
I would touch her hand or ear
Just to have her next to me
Or swear my love undyingly
-
How I’d love to hear her voice
Or kiss those lips, so warm, so moist
My angel, my princess for so many years
All that is left is my pillow of tears
