DIY Wind Turbine Plans
Wind and solar power generation has become a very popular method for creating electricity so I've spent hours on-line looking for good plans and watching DIY videos to learn how to build a wind generator. I found lots of video's with people that built there own wind generators, but few that could show me how to build a complete system that would have my wind generator producing power and putting it good to use.
I had a lot of questions about this wind generator project like, is it realy worth the time and effort to make this thing work, or will I be able to create enough power to even light a bulb or toast some bread. And how will I get the power to the toaster, and could I have toast when the wind was'nt blowing. I looked long and hard and I have to say I thought my project was toast.
I considered puchasing a profesionally built wind turbine, but then realized that it would take years to recover the cost of those expensive systems. And I was sure it would be worn out and have to be replaced or repaired long before I recovered that initial purchase cost. So really the only way to go was a DIY project. I knew I just had to find the right plans and instructions to work with.
The Basics of Wind Energy
For several hundred years people have used wind for an energy source. From the windmills that can still be seen in Holland to the American farmlands, the wind has been utilized to help grind the grain or to pump water. Wind energy is not a new idea! It is just getting more attention today due to our energy crisis. Today there are wind turbines to change the wind's energy into useable electricity.
Similar to windmills the wind turbine get attached to a tower, so it can capture the right amount of the wind's energy. A good elevation for these turbines to be the most effective is about 100 feet or higher. This way they can draw energy from the fastest winds that are not as turbulent as they are on the surface.
Turbines with their blades that are similar to propellers catch the energy from the wind. There are normally about 2 to 3 blades attached to a shaft which in turns forms what is a called a rotor. The blades turning in the wind create lift and drag. Drag happens when the wind hits the front of the blade. Lift happens as a wind pocket occurs on the backside of the blade. By combing the two forces it makes the rotor turn similar to an airplane propeller. And the shaft is turning a generator and this is what creates electricity.
A wind turbine can be used by itself on a small scale. This type of wind turbine are usually used either for communication functions or for pumping water. But farmers, ranchers, and homeowners the reside in areas that have plenty of wind, can utilize the turbines for electricity there by lowering their power bills.
But for a larger application the turbine can be used in groups or combined with solar power applications. These larger projects can be part of an utility grid power system. In this size of operation your would have to have many turbines working together in a wind plant of sorts. Many of the providers of electricity today do just that to supply the needs of their particular customers. Some of the power companies are now buying excess energy from their customers who have wind energy.
With all the fossil fuels being depleted today, all of us need to look for alternative power sources to use. Wind energy and solar energy are the top two alternatives today. These can even work together to provide power for businesses and homes.
Wind energy is 100% renewable an causes no harm to the environment. This is the type of energy that you need to be using these days worldwide. You could ultimately save 100% on your energy costs, through using this power along with other forms of renewable energies. You will also being doing something good for your environment.
So look into getting a wind energy system setup for you home or business today. You will not be sorry that you did and for more information on this topic, there is plenty of information available through the Internet, local home building supply stores, and your local power company.

DIY Renewable Energy Systems
I've learned now that a quality wind generator system requirers quality plans and instructions to make it happen, and I had seen several plans and many videos, So when I found Earth4energy I knew that it was a great DIY package with clear and specific plans and instructions including a complete shopping list for all parts needed so I was'nt running around town picking up one part at a time.
Earth4Energy is a on-line DIY e-book guide consisting of plans on how to build homemade power systems, including a DIY wind power system, a DIY solar power system, and how to make your own bio diesel. Eath4Energy also has video DVD's available for the hole program and specific video's to help you though some difficult procedures. If your not technically inclined and you think it's going to be too hard don't worry. The video series is very easy to follow and explains everything during the build process.
So if you think I'm pretty happy with this product, your wright. Aside from making my own power and toast, I have the pride of knowing that I completed a project that will help the enviornment and save me money. If you have any interest in building a wind generator or solar power system then I think Earth4Energy is the first place you should look.
