The Wonderful world of weight loss
54I have been trying to loose this grueling ten pounds that I have gained somewhere in the last year. I swear my eating habits have not changes nor has my daily activity. However, my weight has. I know ten pounds does not seem like that much to most but to someone who is only 5 feet tall it is very noticeable and not to mention when do you start to address the issue after you have gained 50? Well not for me I have decided to start now because after being the same weight for almost the last 10 years to gain 10 pounds is a lot and I see it heading in a very wrong direction. So what I have done
I see a nutritionist which by the way she is great (Dr. Laura Riley N.D.). She has held me realize what foods in my diet that I need to eliminate. She has not only helped decide what foods to eliminate but on top of that she has mad suggestions for new foods to introduce. For example I eat whole wheat or whole grain breads, flours and pastas instead of the traditional whites. I also have to supplement my sweeteners with honey, Stevia (an herb) or even raw sugar, the less processing the better. O gosh NO more margarine, some butter but mostly extra virgin olive oil and you can add spices to. I find the olive oil is best if you add spices to it in a container and let it sit or sauté onions and garlic in it before using it for cooking. In addition, low fat dairy product or very small portions of dairy products and no processed foods. As a general rule you should only shop the perimeter of the grocery store and make a list. Making a list prevents purchasing of unwanted products and often helps you save money. In my experience I must say it takes a bit of getting used to the flavor differences but after a while you will not want to go back. Not to mention you have to continue to convince yourself it is for the greater good of your health. On top of all of that I go to the gym 3 days a week for at least one hour at a time. I find taking the classes that are taught in a group format, ie aerobics, helps because you make friends and you encourage each other to come to every class. It’s kind of like group therapy. I have been on this schedule for about 3 weeks and I have lost 2 pounds and still trying. Now lets not be fooled I am still working on the strict diet part so I don’t get to upset that I have only lost two pounds. Well good luck to you all and please comment on your progress.
