Australia Working Holiday Visa (Australian WHV)

The Australian working holiday visa enables people aged between 18 and 31 to visit Australia and stay for 12 months. The travelers can supplement their stay by finding temporary occupation.

Figures from November 2008 reveal that currently an average Australian earns 911 AUD per week. Such salary will be able to aid your journey, having in mind that backpackers travel and rarely work for more than 1-2 months in a row.

New Zealand Working Holiday Visa (NZ WHV)

The New Zealand Working Holiday Visa allows 18 to 30 year olds to travel and work in New Zealand. If you have sufficient fund and promise not to bring kids with you, you will be allowed to enter the country and stay for as much as 12 months.

The average New Zealander is able to earn about 900 NZD. This should be enough for most backpackers ie they are able to receive that amount. Temporary occupation is not that well paid, however any amount near the figure above will keep you on the road.


UK Youth Mobility Scheme (UK YMS)

Previously known as the "UK working holiday visa", the UK Youth Mobility Scheme (Tier 5) allows many young people from Australia, Canada, Japan or New Zealand to visit the United Kingdom for up to 12 months. Applicant must be aged between 1- and 30 (inclusive) in order to apply for this UK visa.

People traveling on the UK Youth Mobility Visacan also take temporary employment to finance their stay. Currently, the weekly average income per capita in the UK is considered to be around 400GBP. Depending on your occupation the expected salary will vary, however the amount mentioned above will enable you to meet you common needs (accommodation, food, travel expenses). Official figures are higher, however the common opinion suggest statistics might be somewhat inaccurate.

Ireland Working Holiday Visa (Irish WHV)

Citizens of Australia, Canada and New Zealand can take advantage of the Irish Working Holiday Visa. The main requirement is prospective applicants to be aged between 18 and 30 in the time they apply to this visa.

Canada Working Holiday Visa (Canadian WHV)

The Canadian Working Holiday Visa is the most common choice for Australian and New Zealand travelers in search for a unique experience. The age requirement allows only people aged between 18 and 30 (inclusive, in time of application) to enjoy a working holiday in Canada.

On average, Canadians earn about 860 CAD per week. The amount might not be as higher as in other places, but it will sure suffice for a warm jacket and some nice boots.
