Strong and Confident

For the past 100 years we’ve been hearing, “It’s a man’s job,” or “Let a man do it.”   Well, not anymore it isn’t!  Women in today’s workforce are strong, confident and know what their doing.  They are blue collar workers in dangerous occupations and corporate workers in extreme jobs and they are making a huge impact on the way women are viewed and accepted in the work force today.

"Dangerous" Jobs

More dangerous jobs such as; logging, construction and mining have all stepped out of the dark ages and into the 21st century with women working side by side with men. Many women that work in male dominated jobs that are considered “dangerous” occupations usually follow in the footsteps of their fathers before them. Logging, mining, police officers and firemen are jobs where the phrase, “runs in the family” rings true. A recent study found that today women are three times more likely to follow in their father’s footsteps into his line of work.

Tough Jobs Require Tough Clothing

Women that work in dangerous jobs often have trouble finding on-the-job clothing that actually fits.  For years women have had to endure workwear that wasn’t quite made to fit the female form; overalls and bibs that were too bulky, boots that were uncomfortable and heavy and gloves that were too big.  Today however, many companies that design and manufacture workwear clothing for women have finally got it right…hence, perfectly designed workwear with a women’s body in mind.

Comfort - Durability - Safety

When it comes to women’s workwear, comfort, durability and safety are the three primary concerns. For instance women can now find steel-toe boots that are ultra light with higher arch support to fit a women’s foot properly. Every woman, no matter what their occupation loves to be stylish even when it comes to bib overalls, long johns and steel toe boots. Just because we have a job wearing high visibility vests, hard hats and protective glasses, doesn’t mean we can’t look good and do our job at the same time!

Are Tough Jobs Just for Men?

Safety First

Working in dangerous jobs calls for extra protection in regards to safety. Whether working with heavy machinery or on a tall skyscraper, safety is always a number one priority. Many manufacturers of women’s workwear and boots/shoes such as Carhartt and Red Wing have been able to incorporate safety, comfort and style when designing exclusively for women.

You Go Girl!

Many farms across the country are “family farms,” run by all the members of the family including moms and daughters.  Women work just as hard and get just as dirty as the men on these farms so that everything runs smoothly.  It just goes to show you that it’s not only the extreme jobs or dangerous jobs where women need tough clothing.  For the millions of women across the globe that aren’t afraid to get out there on the job and get dirty I say, “You go girl!”
