Intro to eBook writing

Writing an e-book is not as difficult as it may sound - in fact, anyone can do it! Most people write Ebooks for marketing purposes like to spread the news about their website or product promotion. Of course,Ebooks are also a great idea for any author who cannot get published the traditional way.

There are millions of digital products available on the Internet; ebooks, audio files, videos, etc. Experts have said that digital products represent a very large market on the Internet; billions of dollars in sales are transacted every year.

Creating an eBook is a fairly simple task if you follow a simple writing strategy. But even with a writing strategy some eBook authors are intimidated by the whole writing process. The reason for this, is because they try to write about a product, strategy or service they know nothing about, or have no interest in. Proper research on the basics of Ebook writing is a necessity for writers who are new to the field. For your first eBook project it’s much easier to write about what you know well or a subject that holds a high level of interest for you.

Benjamin Franklin once said "If you fail to plan, you're planning to fail." Keep this phrase in mind. Before you go about writing you eBook it is important to research your eBook topic or niche. You must fully understand the ins and outs of your topic. Many times I come across emails from people asking me how to become a pro in a cetain niche. Here's my response. If you dedicate yourself to reading and researching one topic for about one to two hours each day, you'll gain massive knowledge and become an expert on it in about one to two weeks.

Next you've got to know who are your intended audience. Who do you hope reads your eBook? How old are they? Male or female? What kind of background do they come from? When you know who you are writing to, the writing itself will flow easier and more smoothly.

Once you have established your eBook audience, you need to hone in on the topic of your eBook. You might already have a general topic idea. The key is to drill down and get as specific as possible. The tighter your idea, the better your eBook will be.

Ebooks have certain abilities and qualities that other mediums do not. Ebooks are easy to produce, and their production cost is inexpensive. You don't need a publisher, agent, a printing press, offset film, ink, paper, or even a distributor. You just need a great concept, the ability to write it or to hire a writer, and the right software.

Selling an ebook that's full of errors is a serious reputation killer for you as an author, so after you finish writing your ebook, carefully go through each section checking for spelling and grammatical errors. Use your Microsoft Word Application when writing your book. When finished, ask a friend to check your work. It's always a good idea to have other eyes proof read your draft.

Choosing your topic

It couldn't be easier to select a topic for an ebook. People are hungry for information, and people are looking to the Internet to feed their hunger. The Internet is a great way to find out what people are looking for at any given moment. You can search for almost anything. Go to Google.com and type in "google trends". This is a great way to find what's hot and what everyone is searching for. Look through the list and see which is of interest to you and write about it.

Hire or not to hire a ghost writer.

You can outsource your book writing to a ghostwriter. In fact, ghostwriters can be hired to research your topic fully on the Internet or elsewhere. They can then translate your findings or their research into organized sections and create palatable, conversational paragraphs for your readers. They can even interview people that you designate or that they seek out for the ebook.

Choosing an eBook Compiler

Before we begin choosing the right eBook compiler allow me to explain what it is. An ebook compiler is a software program that converts either text pages or HTML text into a single executable file, PDF or an ebook. Choosing the right e-book compiler is an important part of e-book publishing. Ebooks often include photos, pictures, charts, and other illustrations. However it's important to realize that because illustrations contribute to a larger file size, some ebook compilers only accept text submissions.

It's important to put your ebook in as many formats as possible. Most ebook software only allows the ebook to be read by certain browers and software. People may not take the time to download a new software program in order to read your ebook. Other versions of your ebook could be in HTML, auto responder and downloadable text format.

Moneytize Your eBook

Use spaces in your eBook to promote your other products. If you have another eBook to sell or if you have other products available in your inventory, you can use the available spaces in your eBook to sell them.

Finally, the bottom line of any productive ebook creation venture depends upon making certain that the ebook itself is on a topic that has appeal to the public at large – or to a market niche that you have the ability of reaching.
