ww.Gmail.com is considered the most stable email service and is typically the most reliable of the email systems I've used over the course of my Internet history - it is full featured, generally always there, and extremely versatile. I can't imagine I am the only person in the blogosphere so heavily vested in Google services, so it'll be interesting to see what effect a couple hours of downtime will have on us all. It is cool, and lots of us use it (100 million or so worldwide). I count on it for lots of things, including long-term storage and plenty of it.

It is efficient and easy to use, with ample storage and many great features and it has become so obvious that Gmail is the way to go that I wince every time I see an address that is still @aol, or @yahoo. It is the least web-like web application I have ever seen. It requires both Javascript and cookies in order to load at all. For some time now, Gmail.com is now open for public sign-up to Internet users here in the Philippines. I just found out about this a while as I was about to check my original Gmail account.

It is still in beta because they continue to update the architecture to optimize usability. Just recently Gmail implemented a URL scheme that uses hash marks to force browsers to register client-side clicks in the history object, thus making the back button work properly.

As all service providers, it is having a system wide outage affecting multiple countries, and a whole bunch of its 100 million users are screaming about it on Twitter. Around 20 million people visit Gmail each day, according to Comscore, and they're all seeing the same message. It is on the rise, but not the BEST, not there yet, thus far, I haven't seen any or experienced any email provider(s) that ever met or exceed my expectations yet. GMail is not at fault, as you know they are still in beta. Bugs will still exist and Google won't do anything about it until its ready to release its gold version.

This service has been touted not only for its unusual user interface, which keeps chains of messages organized in threads, but also for its large storage capacity. GMail changed the competitive webmail landscape when they launched by providing 1GB total storage per user. Gmail has no equivalent multiple-window system. In Gmail, if you want to delete an email from your inbox, you check a box next to that email, and then click a delete button.

I used to be on gmail, but then, for no apparent reason my account was disabled and there was no-one to contact who could sort it out. I went on to the forums, and found out this had happened to loads of people, often with businesses that were badly affected, plus private individuals. Having tried and failed to get any response to my requests for my account to be reinstated, I finally gave up and went back to Yahoo, my faith in gmail destroyed.
