ww.MySpace.com is the premier lifestyle portal for networking online. By integrating web profiles, blogs, instant messaging, e-mail, music downloads, photo galleries, classified listings, events, groups, chat rooms and user forums. It has created a connected community where users put their lives online. MySpace.com makes millions simply for advertising on the front page. Ww.MySpace.com has approximately a dozen people to monitor all user activities on the site. Accordingly, they rely on the members to inform them when site policies have been violated.

Myspace User Safety

MySpace sent KXAN this statement saying: "No one is more committed to Internet safety than MySpace. We take aggressive measures to protect our members. Myspace.com has radically changed how people communicate on the Internet. You can stay in contact with friends and family through comments and pictures.

MySpace.com has also gone international. Since early 2006 and has offered users the option of accessing the service in different regional versions, much like search engines. A software called Myspace layout pimper makes available key resources that allow you to design your page. MySpace, by far the dominant site with 115 million members, announced recently that it had found 29,000 registered sex offenders on its site. As late night talk show host Jay Leno joked, that leaves 20,000 un-registered sex offenders on the site. That may be a cause for concern, but the site still rocks!

ww.MySpace.com recognizes this, and prohibits anyone under 14 years of age from using their website. Unfortunately, while they may set rules to keep younger kids off the site, they can't prevent kids from lying about their age, pretending to be 14 years of age or older. It has also taken an active role in sponsoring music shows, parties and other events for its online users to socialize offline.

Did you know that ww.Myspace.com can now even be accessed by cell phone? Teenagers as young as 14 can register for a Myspace account as the website makes it easy for them to do so.

ww.MySpace has become a huge success in part because it exists as a space where kids can go to escape parental influence. MySpace may be this season's black sheep, but I hope editors aren't missing an opportunity to learn from it. For me, one of the fascinating things about ww.MySpace.com is that much of the social networking is among people who already know each other in the "real world."

Myspace is here to stay!
