MTV2 was launched on August 1, 1996. The main reason for MTV 2's launch was to provide music fans with continues commercial-free music videos, as the original MTV network had shifted from music to reality television shows and soap operas. This cable network that is widely available in the United States. Currently, MTV2 airs an assortment of music videos, music-related specials, and non-music shows, especially targeted at youth culture and pop culture. Originally known as M2, the name was changed to MTV2 after the first quarter of 1999.

MTV2 was relaunched on February 7, 2005 to create a unique brand identity for MTV2. Along with the relaunch came the introduction of a new logo, a two-headed dog. Well the concept behind the adoption of two-headed dog as the logo is actually not that clear. Although, according to Billboard Radio Monitor the two heads of the dog were made to represent rock and hip-hop, the two sides of music on MTV2.

Music lists options such as Artists, Music videos, Lyrics, Spankin' new ladies week, Be my valentine, Music blogs, Music shows, Songs, Genres, and Billboard charts. Shows lists many options such as TV Schedule, MTV Shows Gossip, Show Photos, Be on MTV, and Shop MTV Shows. Under the News, you will find options such as All news, Breaking news, Music news, Movie news, Video game news, World/National news, Live music coverage, Video updates, & interviews, MTV reporters, Street team '08, Video games blog, and News Alerts. Under Movies, Games & More, you will come across categories such as Movies, Video games, Online games, Activism, and Mobile.
