The term "Pokémon" means Pocket Monsters. Before Pokémon Gold and Silver, there were around 151 known species on the national territory, but as the years have gone by new games have come by and along with it, they have brought us to new areas such as Johto and Hoenn. And the number of known species has so far reached 386 Pokémon. There are still many new territories in which coaches can see new Pokémon that has never been seen before. Depending on the kind of Pokémon, each Pokémon has some unique characteristics such as their physical appearance, their height, their weight, their statistics fighter, their personality, their tastes when it comes to eating berries, and also its very nature given by the type of Pokémon they may be. By all these features each Pokemon character differs from each other.

In Pokémon world, there are coaches, along with Pokémon competing in a sport called Pokémon Struggles, in which coaches and Pokémon fight together to beat another team comprising of a Pokémon and its coach. You will also come across Pokémon researchers, such as Professor Oak, Elm Professor and Professor Birch. These researches are responsible for developing research Pokémon, which then goes on to appear in the Pokedex. For those of you all who don't know what a Pokédex is - Well it is an encyclopedia collection in a sofiticado apparatus in which you describe and give information about all Pokémon to the coaches.
