Singapore Airlines.com- progressing with advanced fleets
With a very humble beginning as a regional airline, Singapore Airlines has evolved into one of the most respected travel brands around the world. What began as a service of just three flights per week has today a route network spanning 102 destinations in 42 countries. It has one of the world's youngest fleet in the air, and an extensive network spanning five continents. The corporate image of the Singapore Girl was adopted as its symbol of quality customer care and service in 1968. The Singapore airlines fleet is also one among the youngest, most modern and comfortable in the world. Today Singapore airlines is one of the world's leading carriers with a young, efficient fleet, an educated staff attuned to quality, and a top-ranked travel gateway, Singapore's Changi Airport, at the centre of its extensive route network. Singapore Airlines is soon expected to be the first Airline to put the world's largest aircraft into service.
From a single plane to an internationally respected brand, almost 60 years of innovation and service has propelled the growth of Singapore Airlines to become one of the world's leading carriers with an advanced fleet. Singapore Airlines was the pioneer airline service to offer free drinks and complimentary headsets. Recently, the airline has also forayed into in-flight telecommunications services and an unparalleled in-flight luxury. Singapore Airlines celebrated its 60th Anniversary in 2007 and is soon expected to launch the world's largest plane into service.
The first foundation of Singapore Airlines was laid on May 1947, when a Malayan Airways Limited Airspeed Consul took off from Singapore's Kallang Airport on the first of three scheduled flights a week to Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh and Penang. After a steady growth and acquisition of several high end planes, on 16 September 1963, the Federation of Malaysia was born and the Airline became known as Malaysian Airways Limited, which later became Malaysia-Singapore Airlines. The airline evolved significantly by the addition of its first Boeings - three B707s, then a fleet of B737s.
The separate entities Singapore Airlines and Malaysian Airline System were born after the split-up of Malaysia-Singapore Airlines in 1972. Singapore Airlines steadily grows achieving newer heights, continually striving to drive quality service through innovation. The site is done tastefully in shades easy to the eye. Even today, my recent flights to USA was through Singapore air lines. My son & daughter living in US also loves Singapore air lines very much due to the friendly service & comfortable flights of Singaporeairlines.

In December, we flew from San Francisco to Amritsar. We had a good time onthe flight. My kids liked the flight, too! The food was really good. All of the Singapore Airlines crew members provided excellent service. This was our first time flying with Singapore Airlines. We recommend this airline to everybody!
