Staples Rewards Program

At Staples Rewards Center, you can enroll in one of their free rewards programs or access your existing membership information. The website claims that you can earn 10% back in rewards on ink and toner, case and ream paper, and Copy & Print Center purchases. And that is not all. You will also be rewarded quarterly as long as you've earned at least $10 in rewards in the quarter. Rewards balances under $10 will roll over each quarter during the calendar year. At the end of each calendar year, any rewards balances under $10 will expire. And there is no limit to how much you can earn in rewards. The website claims that customers can spend their rewards on anything at Staples.

An excerpt from the official Staples Rewards website - "Ink, Paper and Copy & Print Center services are the staples of your business. You've got to have them. So why not save on them - every day." And one more paragraph from another section of the website - "Get FREE delivery on orders of $50 or more Quarterly rewards We will mail a quarterly reward as long as you've earned as least $10 in rewards. Which typically means you spend $100 in qualifying purchases, you receive 10% back in rewards, which means you receive $10 in rewards. Rewards balances under $10 will roll over each quarter during the calendar year.At the end of each calendar year, any rewards balances under $10 will expire."

Now if you did not understand what the company intends to convey, they have conveyed it through an example -

  • You purchase $110 of case paper. This is $110 of qualifying purchases @ 10% back in rewards = $11 in rewards.
  • You purchase $50 of case paper Plus $70 of Copy & Print Center services. This is $120 of qualifying purchases @ 10% back in rewards = $12 in rewards.
  • You purchase $50 of ink Plus $50 of Copy & Print Center Services Plus $40 of case paper. This is $140 of qualifying purchases @ 10% back in rewards = $14 in rewards.

Rewards will be mailed within 30 days after the end of the calendar quarter, and you have until the last day of the calendar quarter to redeem your issued rewards. Rewards must be spent at any Staples store, Staples.com or by phone, before the expiration date printed on your rewards.

I find it difficult to use the special rewards within the limited time allotment as we live an hour away from the closest store, and do not necessarily need more ink or more paper within that alloted time. Is there not a way the rewards can be used with a year so that I, and others like me, could take advantage of the 10% rewards? I appreciate the program, I just find it frustrating when I have to discard the special discount coupon because I don't need more supplies within that time period. I am very , very, very unhappy with the rewards changes. I am not a business--am retired and depend on the $3 off when I turn in a dead ink cartrage To have to wait for a Quarter to pass before I get the $3 is not helpful for a single individual on a fixed income. Can't you change this to make it more customer friendly?

Since I am NOT a business, the other rewards are not at all helpful to me because I do not buy in large quantities. Obviously older retired people were not considered when these changes were made.

Here we go again. another way for a store to seyt something up and have their employees only tell a short thing about it.

I have left countless ink jet for refills and the store tells me OH you have to get on line to find out how many you have.

I can tell you I don't have to get on line to go to Office Max and tell others to do the same.

I am told to go to staplesreward to find out how much credit I have coming. I read one letter from a lady that indicated that there is a time limite to how long a person has to retrieve the credites.

A month or so ago I recycled ten used ink cartridges. I received a card and notice I would receive a check for thirty dollars to spend at Staples. I have misplaced my paperwork and card. I have been to my Staples three times and get a different story each time. The first time they said all I needed was my phone number. Took my purchases to the counter and they said I needed a card. I used to live in Florida, but I have lived in Southern Illinois for the last 4 years. I notice that many people are asking questions, but you are not posting "any answers". I used to turn in my HP Ink cartridges, but have been told within the last year that now, rather than give you the $3. discount right away to go on this site. But, when you come to our site, many many people are asking questions, and I don't see any answers. We carefully accumulated the qualifing items in our shopping cart, from your Rochester, MI Location.

Our purchase price was well over $260 which should have qualified us for a "Valued Customer Status".

One of the qualifying products was a D-Link MP3 player

we purchased for our Daughters Birthday,

was Dead-On-Arrival (DOA).

This dynamic scenario proved to be a dilemma as we had concensouly mailed in our rebate UPC from the box,

in strict accordance with your Published Guidelines.

We returned to our Rochester Michigan location feeling cheated and violated and was informed:

"Their was nothing we could do, even though we had the purchase receipt and the retail box".

"No accomodations, No exceptions" was the Corporate Policy.

We inquired as whether we could exchange the item, and were informed all Retail Locations in the in the blessed Union:

the United States of America were sold out.

We returned to the Retail Location unsatisfied, and found that many D-Link MP3 units were in fact, in stock

in a lockup,and were reserved for future offerings.

We contacted D-Link and got only a recording machine.

Pertinent data was shared with the answering machine

at D-Link Service, with a request for a Return Material Authorization (RMA).

A D-Link person did call back.

We had a difficult experience trying to decipher her ineffective communication abilities and skills because

she was new in our country.

We were informed to return unit to Staples for exchange.

(Which came first??? The Chicken or the Egg???)

Riddled with numerous examples of:

1)Arrogance

2)Incompitence

3)Fraudulent Activity

4)Moral Corruption

5)Mis-Direction

6)Ineffective Communication

We felt like were screwed over by a bunch of lawyers

and Bad Law Enforcement Personnel, who find lieing

fundamental to exhausting all motivation to right the wrongs and deliver my Daughter Birthday Present on schedule/time.

What really upset us:

1) The Staples Sales Rep. chuckled at our dilemma

2) Offered no route to recompensation/satisfaction

3) Felt comfortable with fraudulent activity

This demonstration of inadequacies is textbook

"Anything Goes and Corporate will back us"

It is our observation that these undesirable traits have

festered, ruptured and has overcome any health tissues in their organization.

You often hear and read about Corrutption that goes all the way up to the top and includes Presidents.
