71www.eHow.com How To Guides
Need to figure out how to do something? Wish there were a step by step guide for that? Well, there just might be. Ehow.com may be the place you are looking for. At first glance, it may be hard to distinguish eHow from many other social networking platforms. However after diving into the categories on the bar to the left, you can find many useful guides. Of course, these are member created guides, and subject to skepticism at times.
The most impressive feature on the site for myself was the video guides. For those with short attention spans, poor imaginations, or the unfortunate experience of having a poor author; ehow gives you something extra to make your task a bit easier to conceptualize. Waiting for the advertisement to load on the video tab, was my only real problem with the videos. I guess they have to pay for it somehow, though.
While many of the guides seemed to have a real purpose, there were quite a few in my browsing that didn't seem to need a spot on eHow. Guides like "Easy ways to grow taller" and "How to apply makeup to a mannequin's head" seemed to be a bit of a stretch as a plausible need for many people. If you can find something they haven't made a guide for, I am sure they would love you to join there community of guide builders (why a community is needed for this is still a bit unlclear to me).
