I agree with the above statement as far as alot of information on the ehealthinsurance site. BUT, TAKE IT FROM SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY WORKED FOR THE COMPANY, it is POORLY RUN from the inside. It is a fast food type of service where they stick to a couple of plans that they recommend to everyone when you call in.
Most of the agents are inexpierenced kids or former loan officers (who are out of work because of what they did in that industry) who the company pays for their licensing. Then they throw them on the phones) are paid by capturing your email address. As soon as they get it they rush you off the phone to get to the next caller! Cherry picking at its finest. Then customers have to call back in the get help and low and behold, another rep answers and does not want to help you because your email is already in the system and they wont get paid for helping you. A vicious circle. It was ridiculous when this happened every day and management didnt do a thing about it. Very unethical. Call up and tell them you have diabetes and there is a %50 chance they will hang up on you. That is also a common practice by long employed reps there. I left of my own accord due to not being able to stomach these practices. I would not let any one I care about use there site other than for info. It is Better to go the Health insurance companies directly and cut out the middleman.
I am a former insurance agent and after my stint there I decided I woud rather go to heaven and change my career. I was shocked when I intially started at how poorly it was run and for an internet company how shabby there systems were. They follow a simple formula when you call in. They want you on and off the phone within six minutes. Most reps laugh and try for 2 minutes. How can you service someone in this time? The formula is simple and varies in order, where are you? who is this for? do you have any health issues (if you do, ..end of call) if you dont provide an email, see how quickly there turn from nice to hanging up on you. There are a few variations on the above but they all come down to an email address and health. I would at least try to give good advice and resources to those I could not help. They used to laugh saying "we get paid to get emails, not help people"
Plus they take much longer to process than going directly through the company. They will lie and say its real quick but its not always the case. Go direct. I saw so many applications get lost in the system and the people processing them are not motivated in any way to expedite the paper work
I could go on and on with horrible stories that occurred but I would rather not, theypromise their reps they will make $100,000 a year if they hit huge number of emails that actually sign up, but really only one rep really gets that because he is filtered all family calls. But I truly encourage you to avoid this company.
