So You Think You Can Dance?
When American Idol finishes, Fox will launch its new show: So You Think You Can Dance; www so you think you can dance com. Fox premiers So You Think You Can Dance on Thursday, May 24th at 8/7c. Season Three of So You Think You Can Dance premieres with two audition episodes: a one-hour show on Thursday, May 24 8/7c and a special two-hour episode airing Wednesday, May 30 8/7c.
So You Think You Can Dance searches for the top dancer in the country this summer on Fox. The quest begins on March 1 in New York City. Brought to you by the producers of American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance begins its third season. Dance genres range from "street" style hip-hop to ballroom.
Producers will travel to LA, Chicago, NY, and Atlanta to search for their contestants. If selected, contestants will be given a call-back where they work with top choreographers. During this week, the judges will choose the Top 20 dancers to continue on in the competition.
Last year, America's Favorite Dancer received: $100,000, a new car and a contract to appear in Celine Dion's "A New Day" show in Las Vegas.

Tonights show outraged me!!!!!!! Jimmy a PHENOMONAL dacner was sent home! Anybody watching, no matter if they know anything about dance or not, could see the tremendous talent he had in his solo with his leg extensions. His technique was one of the best of the dancers! They kept Cedrick, who in his own right is good, but he has a hard time stepping out of his "style". The judges say this and they also say that he lets his partner down. They also said that uniqueness won over talent......does that mean Jimmy is more talented than Cedric!? Also they said Pacha's solo wasn't good enough, but he still made it. All I'm saying is that Jimmy's solo was AMAZING and they let the best male dancer go once again. Also it is weird that they basically threatened Cedric and said he better not disapoint them and end up in the bottom again because he let his partner down. If you have to threaten somebody, telling them they better be good enough, they are obviously not good enough. This compition is all about being good in all styles of dance. Cedric does not display this.

Whoever gets the boot will be someones favorite. These shows are all going to make someone mad sooner or later. The biggest problem I see is leaving the vote to the public who tends to play games with the results. Thus they get rid of some talented people on these shows. There is "trend" to keep the losers & get rid of the good ones just for fun. They should leave the vote to the professionals if they want valid choices.
This show gives young talent a great exposure/start and should be applauded. Entertaining & fun to watch!!!
Well the fact of the matter, is I know I can dance and I wanted to get alittle more info on how to prove , a well known fact, ya dig! Im very interested and next season and where and when are the next tryouts? this info is very important to me and the show,so I know I can dance will, you'll let me prove it?
dance is my whole life. I dont do it as much any more but by watching the show i feel as if i am still learning at all the coventions like LA dance magic and even in the classroom. its nice to know that there are more people out there who love it as much as i do. Keep it up contestants. Choreographers... I could do as good as you, I dare you to find me :)

I was a profestional dancer for 50 years. These kids on the show are incredible dancers and acrobats. Some of the break dancing is awsom. I love the judges, They are right on top of the game. Thanks for a great show.

I am a dancer myself and i have been dancing since i was three years old.. the show is such and inspiration to me.. I would one love to beable to work with wade robson and mia.. they both are incredible teachers.. I love lauren..

I am a classically trained teacher and choreographer with over 50 years experience. I have always respected and encouraged dancers from all disciplines. Love your show the mentoring of the judges and the choreographers. Tonight I am very disappointed in Shayne. I have loved his choreographyin the past (In fact he opened my eyes to a whole new dimension of hip hop)/ But tonight I feel he did not do his best to set choreography on Danny which would show DANNY at his best. In fact, based on past infomation It seems that Sayne was, in fact undermining Danny. And WHAT ABOUT those costumes - everyone else's were lovely. Congratulations to Mia Michaels, she put her heart out there and created something beautiful for the dancers snd for us ( she always does).NOW THAT IS THE ART OF DANCE!!!Also, I still am amazed that any rational human being could have been offended by "Waiting for the World to Change". it was such a beautiful message of grace and love.Keep up the good work - these young dancers are blessed for the experience!!!
As a past professional dancer that worked for many famous choriographers and danced in some of the biggest shows in Las Vegas, I must tell you I thoroughly enjoy 'So You Think You Can Dance'.
However, I do feel strongly that you cannot judge a male dancer against a female dancer. For one thing a male dancer does not have to dance in high heels or be lifted into the air by his partner. The technique of a male dancer is different from a female and he cannot perform the same steps or moves as his counterpart. Likewise for the female dancer, she moves differently than the male and does have to dance in high heels and be lifted. I feel that , to be totally fair, you should have a favorite male dancer and , also, have a favorite female dancer at the end of your competition. Perhaps, it is all about the money at the end of the show. One thing that is not made clear to the American public is what kind of prize goes to the winner. American Idol,which judges singers, get a cash amount and a record contract along with national exposure after the season ends. America Has Talent gives one million dollars to the winner. It seems that the main prize for the top ten dancers is a dance tour for a short period of time. I would hope that they are earning a decent salary for that tour because I am sure the producer of this show is making a lot of money from it. It just seems that these are such talented young dancers who have a limited time as performers because of the wear and tear to their bodies, and they are not getting as much as these other shows offer.
Please know that I love this show. It brings back so many memories for me.
One more thing that I have to say is concerning Danny. You are constantly pushing him to perform with more emotion and facial emoting. Believe me, I realize the importance of emoting. It truly got me a lot of my work when I was in the business. However, to me, Danny is like a Barishnikov and Nureyev of the Contemporary Dance. These two dancers did not have to emote from their faces to impress and capture the respect and admiration of their audiences. He emotes through sheer, superb technique. He has what is called "elegance". I think he is great.

You set us up... then lied. No one wanted or expected to see Cat OR Nigel to dance. We embraced Cat for her charm / job well done. We hear Nigel's 'judge' imput (knowing his behind the scenes role on this and other shows). Well enough. Then we hear of a 'special surprise'. ..... to see Cat and Nigel .... 'DANCE!!!" ...
Who would care about that? Cat is in her role - Nigel is in HIS role.... No one CARES about their CHANGING roles to be "dancers"....
So we're set up for this 'show'... you build up an expecation ... when there was NEVER a possibility of the concept.
What do we get??? A wholly STUPID charade / puppet show menage insultin the genre, the supposed participants and totally insulting worldwide the audience. You lead us down a path of expectation we would never have imagined. Set us up and then had Nigel and Cat lie on camera about thier 'uneasyness' about performing. My God. Nigel covering his face in embarrassment about haveing to dance in front of millions. Cat being nervous for her upcoming 'debut' . What a sham.
Nigel IS responsible. He's more than a paid performer. Cat does what she's paid to do.
Nigel: Your ego has obviously gotten the better of ANY judgement. This is an outradge. I sat for the next minute or so .... stunned.
Well. Cat announced the WINNER of the whole competition. I was still blown away about how I felt about this abomination and being lied to ... then Cat makes the annnouncment .... and what? 10 seconds later... it's over.
I know this is LIVE tv. 10 SECONDS? Less probably. Incredible. How can you let us down so? Horrific TV.
I love this show, i am all the way from Guyana. It was the best to me of all three shows so far and i could have bet a million dollars that Sabra Johnson would have one. To me she is the most outstanding dancer of this season and i must say she deserve it .I must say all the best to the rest of the dancers who compete in the show and Sabra this is the begining of a new chapter goodluck

I wasn't able to watch the season during its original time slot because I was walking across the country to raise awareness for homelessness, but I am watching the replay on mtv. I felt the need to commend you (and Wade) on the statement made by Wade's solo against the war. REAL dialogue on hard subjects is what makes freedom free, and their is no better way to do so than through creative expression.

My wife and I enjoy your program, but get very turned off by your juges as they start to tell you something, but say YOU KNOW. Hell if I already know, then why do I have to listen to them keep telling me YOU KNOW over and over again. Another little saying that is very distracting to your program is "LIKE YOU KNOW". I thought these were intelligent people who are doing the judging, but after listening to them we really don't know.

the judging of the men tonight was so ridiculous. Marquis was head over heels the best of the 3 dancing for his life. Sometimes this season I feel that the judges and I are watching different shows.
on this night june 19th a man named marquise was sent home when he did the best job he possibly could. The jugdes said his danceing was just tricks when it was beautiful dancing. I dont know marquise but i hope he knows that i think his dancing is beautiful and to never quit just beacuse some one turned you down. I am a dancer myself and because you keep dancing i will keep dancing. i hope the show and the judges known that they have lost 1 viewer who loved the show.
I really enjoy watching the show. I think most of the contestants are all very talented. But I might have to stop watching the show if Mary Murphy doesn't tone down her voice and stop that screaming. It really hurts my ears. Maybe one less viewer.

i really enjoy this show. It is one of the inspirations i have encountered to make me want to dance. To the people who were voted off: don't quit dancing. Sure, you didn't go all the way on the show, but that shouldn't keep you from succeeding in a career in dance for life.. Keep it up, all of you are great! :)

I love this show so much that I have become addicted to it. I do my best not to missed a single episode when able, However I had to ask myself something tonight " What were these judges on?" They seem to have forgotten something, those dancers are still amateurs. The judges need to wake up and smell the coffee. What with that echoing routine? Mary doesn't sem to have a mind on her own, all she does is repeat or rephrase anything Nigel says. As for Mia Michael, you have just lost a lot of the respect people had for you. Shame on you for compromising your personality and becoming a member of the echo club. It seems to me that tonight all the judges were doing was bashing those kids. Mia one of the reasons that you were so much love was because of your abilities to judge independently. Unfortunately you have lost that. Judges please! Stop playing with words, don't assume that us the viewers are too stupid to understand your language. Certains comments made tonight and other nights prior to that are pure and simply discriminatory remarks. These dancers made it to the top because they were good enough during the auditions process and so on... For you to mention whose is confortable, who is faking techniques, who is stagnant is ugly to the core. One more thing these dancers are doing what the choreographors have told and teach them to do. If you want to blame someone, blame them. It incumbs to the choerographors to make sure that the chemistry between dancers are shown during the performances. They don't see themselves but you do as well as the teachers. These dancers are remarkable, stop putting them down. You can be assertive without the scorning, the derogatory remarks or your own biaises.

Mia Michaels has no business trying to comment the way she does about crumping. It is offensive to black people, and I don't appreciate her trying to talk as if she is black. It is truly offensive and she should apologize. It is not cool, and in fact, she looks like a fool.
Mia Michaels was so mean to Jessica King last week! Jessica is getting better and I think that she should still have Will as a partner, but since she broke her ribs and is of the show I feel very sorry for her.Everyone in Myrtle Beach was voting for her more than 300 times! I think Jessica can dance!

I just find this show, so fascinating to watch. Watching some of the dancers doing the dances there assigned to is just mind boggling. The only thing about this show I do not like is the judging, where they have to let the dancers go.

I can't Believe who was voted off, Canadian public seems to know nothing about the quality of the dancers(Popularity does not count), Judges should be in Sync before letting the Voters become the Judges. Disgraceful. Please take a good look @ who went home? & you all will agree with me.

The best dancer I have ever seen, was in 2006.I dont remember his name, but he was a black guy.He wore a black top hat,and he danced so great,he made the hair on my neck stand up!The girl that danced with him, couldn't keep up with him,so he went for himself.I wonder who that guy was.
I love the show and I watch it all the time but last week
when I saw Ellen on this show I changed the channel because
it was redicules to see her. Her joks and laughs made me sick this is a dancing show not a comedy show. You are down grading your show by bringing people like Ellen, you will be losing your audience in the future.

August 7th, 2009 - I was rooting for Kayla last night. I was amazed that she was 4th. But she has been so consistently lauded as great I think the voters attention and appreciation was moved onto Janine who is also great.
My husband and I had quite the discussion about how this is more of a contest of appeal than raw talent. The top 10 dancers were already great dancers so the skill part is beyond most americans. The judges provided the expertise and the public's job was to just enjoy and get to know them as best as possible and really it was a vote on appeal. That said, I am not at all surprised that Janine won. She is playful & loves to laugh and has a beautiful smile, showed a great sense of humor,& appealed to the girl power group. She is genuine and I think all of that appeals to Americans. Congratulations to her!
I think Brandon lost a lot of votes when he came off as "fighting" against Evan. He should have kept the comradery. Evan is a lover not a fighter. He was going with the choreography and I think it turned some people off to Brandon just enough to vote for some one else. It has worked in the past for two male dancers with a lot of machismo, but not in this case. I blame the choreographer for that.

I THINK IT WAS VERY UNFAIR THAT BRNDON DIDNT WINNNNNN! HE DANCED AND GAVE 100PERCENT WEEK AFTER WEEK. AND BY THE WAY IT WAS ALSO UNFORTUNATE THAT NO ONE WAS ABLE TO GET THRU ON THE LINES ON FINALE NIGHT. MAYBE WE SHOULD HAVE A RECOUNT OF VOTES!!!!!!TO BRANDON I SAY GOOD LUCK AND YOU MADE THE MANY VEIWERS WATCH THIS SEASON I CERTAINLY WOULD RETHINK NEXT SEASON.
