YouTube is an online video website, wherein you can upload and share your personal videos with the world. Not only this, through YouTube.com you can even share your video across the Internet through websites, mobile devices, blogs, and email. With literally thousands of video clips housed, YouTube has literally become a hub of online video clips.

YouTube was founded in February 2005. Sequoia Capital provided funding for YouTube in November 2005, and about a month later in December the website was officially launched. Chad Hurley and Steve Chen became the first members of the YouTube management team. Currently Chad Hurley is serving as the Chief Executive Officer of YouTube, and Steve Chen is serving as the Chief Technology Officer.

Later on, about a year later, that is in November 2006, Google Inc. purchased YouTube. There have also been many partnership deals with content providers such as CBS, BBC, Universal Music Group, Sony Music Group, Warner Music Group, NBA, The Sundance Channel, etc.

One of the main reasons for YouTube to gain popularity is the fact that everyone can watch the videos uploaded on YouTube. You can catch hold of current events, find video that tickle your interests, or go through other people‘s personal wacky videos. It is just simple fun! Visit the website to experience it. I bet you will spend hours and hours on the website and still won't feel bored. However, be cautious, when young ones are around, as there might be some videos, which might not be safe for their viewing.

One addition that YouTube must try to implement, is to include the option of viewing the videos in fullscreen mode or at a larger size that the current size. With respect to the clarity part, I personally think that YouTube has done a wonderful job. The Homepage lists videos under three categories, viz. Browse, Time, and Category. If you want to upload your personal videos, you will have register with them. Registration is quite simple and it might take only about a minute or so depending upon your internet speed.

Although you can watch all the videos listed in YouTube, the website doesn't allow you to download any of the videos. However, there are many ways to download your favorite clip on to your computer. My personal favorite is YoutubeX.com, as it has a very easy user interface, and you can download your favorite video in a jiffy.
