The rumors of the existance of Xsite pro Version 2 seem to have been greatly exagerated. I purchased xsite pro almost 2 years ago and shortly afterwards new was released that xsite pro V2 was being worked on. Well it's now 2 years later and it still hasn't been delivered.

However I haven't given up expecting to see it arrive in 2007 I have a hunch that i may be getting a new christmas present of XsitePro V2. Everything that is eminating from Xsite HQ indicates that the long awained follow up is nearing completion.

Now don't get me wrong there is nothing much wrong with Xsite as it stands i could do was a bit of code trimming as it is a bit bloated and does a few things in very strange ways but It is very usable and it delivers on all it's promises.

I've actually lost count of the money i've earned from Xsite pro wbuilt websites and unlike many other of my sites every Xsite designed and built site is still indexed in google and ranking well.

Despite common wisdom now might be the best time to Buy a copy of xsite pro as the developers are offering a free upgrade to version 2 for anyone who buys now unlike us poor long term owners who will have to pay to upgrade. I suppose it's a vote of confidence for the software that so many current owners are planning to up grade.

UPDATE... March 2008

Well here we are in March and there is still no sign of Xsite Pro Version 2 . Yes it's still being promised soon and Paul has stated that he has just finished the 900 page manual...Whoa there... Most people won't read a 9 page manual so a 900 page manual is just waaaaay over the top.

I really do get the impression that The developers of version 2 have probably missed the bus with this upgrade. It's one thing to generate a buzz with the anouncement of Version 2 (2 years ago) but that buzz has now been counter productive plus there now seems to be a bit of ill will from some people about the delay.

The fast pace of develolopment of Wordpress may have a negative effect on xsite Pro. Where once I created a site in Xsite Pro I now create a site in wordpress and then clone the setting from another site . (I use Semiologic Pro).

I really do like xsite pro but as we still don't know any of the features in version 2 I will reserve judgement and carry on building with Wordpress while xsitepro V1 gathers digital dust
